Dear GOTR Central New York community,
We are writing to share an important update with all of you who make this community so special. Recently, the Girls on the Run Central New York Board of Directors identified serious concerns related to past financial management practices involving a former employee. Upon learning this information, the board took immediate action and reported the matter to the appropriate authorities. An investigation is now underway, and we are cooperating fully with law enforcement and state officials as they conduct their review.
We want to reassure our community that this situation relates to administrative and past financial management practices, and that at no time were there any concerns regarding participant safety.
After becoming aware of these issues, the board took immediate action by proactively pausing the spring 2026 season.
We recognize that this news may feel unsettling. Girls on the Run is built on trust — trust between families and coaches, partners and communities, and most importantly, trust in the experience we provide for girls. Protecting that trust is our highest responsibility.
Girls on the Run exists to help girls build confidence, form meaningful connections, and develop skills they carry with them long after the program ends. In moments like this, our responsibility is to ensure the organization is strong and well-positioned to continue serving girls in our community.
We are deeply grateful for your understanding and continued belief in Girls on the Run Central New York. Your support and care for this community are a powerful reminder of why this work matters.
Because this is an active investigation, we are unable to comment on specific details at this time.
With deep respect,
The GOTR CNY Board of Directors
