Dear Pit Run Family:



With heartfelt gratitude and emotions, the Ricky J. Parisian Memorial Scholarship Foundation and the Parisian Family announce the retirement of the Annual Pit Run event in Oneonta, NY. We wish to take this opportunity to thank each of you personally for your years of dedication, support, and camaraderie.



What began in 1994 as a celebration of life for NYSP Investigator Ricky J. Parisian, a beloved community member and protector of all that is good, has morphed over the past nearly three decades to a celebration of community, inclusive of all. Your investment in this event, whether through participation, sponsorship, gifts-in-kind, or volunteerism has elevated the Pit Run to undeniable success.



Through the financial success of the Pit Run, the Ricky J. Parisian Memorial Scholarship Foundation was established, and has reached an amount that will ensure that the mission of the organization, to fund an annual scholarship in Ricky’s name, is realized for years to come. Most notably, the Pit Run has been organized on a strictly 100% volunteer basis since its inception. That factor has remained a cornerstone of the event and one that organizers look to with great pride. Your participation has allowed the return of over $650,000 directly back to this area in scholarships and grants.



There is no sufficient way to thank each of you for the role you’ve played in the success of the Pit Run. We trust that this event has provided you with personal feelings of goodness and accomplishment, and has allowed you an avenue of positive growth. Our hope is that those memories will suffice as the gratitude we have to offer you.



In addition to the annual scholarship, the foundation will continue to evaluate the ability to give back to the community through grants to area youth programs. We would be honored to receive continued support that would further enable that goal. We welcome you to review more information on the Ricky J. Lost & Found- do you know the woman who left an autumn-red zip up hoodie with subtle embroidery at the Pit Run? Found on a tree branch near the finish line of event. Please call the Pit Run hotline (432-8068) to arrange pick up. It will be held for 2 weeks, then donated to Good Will.
