🎨 WELL… SINCE WE’RE TALKING ABOUT THE PAINT 😂 This is just one example of why so many good people eventually get burned out in rescue. Thankfully, I’ve learned not to let this kind of stuff get to me or affect the way we operate. I know why I’m here, why Halo’s is so blessed, & we keep moving forward. 🩷

*Attached are photos of the color for our new building, some rude messages, & some rescues that don’t care if our walls are painted.*

We know some saw the past post criticizing Halo’s and our new building (calling it ugly, depressing, & pointing out everything supposedly “wrong” with it.) We’ll address the other silly claims separately, with ss & documentation in the future. We’ve just been a little too busy actually working to focus on anything else.😂

But the comments & texts about our building reminded us of an elementary bully making fun of someone else’s house because theirs was falling apart. Because actually… we LOVE our building. And pity those who are mad we were given it. Weird behavior. It was DONATED to Halo’s by people who believed in our mission and wanted to help us save more animals in Scott County. Our hearts are full every time we step foot in it.👏🏼

Could it use a pressure washing and fresh paint? Absolutely. Who cares?
Some people could use a bath and brush too, but we’re just not mean enough to individually point that out. And we would actually offer to help them!! 😂

And yes, it was previously a wood-flooring manufacturing facility, not a nuclear plant like this lady was trying to make it seem. That same industry put pieces of Scott County in homes & buildings across America including Trump Tower in NYC.
✨Pretty neat piece of local history, if you ask us.✨

More importantly, the donors paid for extensive testing of the building (including the floors, walls, surfaces and air quality) and everything passed. ✅

What someone else sees as an imperfect old building, we see as thousands of square feet with the potential to save lives. And while we’d love to have every inch painted and beautiful already, our money goes to the animals care first.

So, since a couple keep talking about the building… we finally picked our exterior color! 💙😂
If our building’s aesthetic bothers you or if you’re just a kind soul who wants to help us get it prettied up quicker, I’ll attach the paint details.

Our building may not be pretty enough for everyone yet, but we’re incredibly proud of what’s already happening inside it. Fortunately, our rescues don’t give a 💩 about what color the walls are lol.

🐾 We are completely cat food. Can you help? 🐾
We thought we had a donation coming in, but unfortunately it fell through. With so many cats in our care, we need help getting food back on the shelves as soon as possible. We just used our last bag. We are trying to save our funds for our many needed spay/neuter surgeries… so if you could spare a bag or 2, it would help so much 🙏🏼

Dry cat food is our biggest need right now. We also use canned cat food and kitten food, and donations of any of those would mean so much to us. We do have some canned left at the moment but it will be gone soon. We can also always use dry dog food.

Calling all future queens, kings, vendors, & animal lovers to join this pageant with a purpose! 👑🐾
🗓️ October 10th, 2026!
The 2026 Miss Rocky Top Royalty pageant is collecting donations for the animals at Halo’s Home Animal Rescue, and we’re so thankful to be part of it! The one with the most points will win the Humanitarian Award! There are several age divisions & categories as well.

🧡 We need vendors! Only $10 a spot

🧡 Help with decorating & a photo backdrop
🤍 & of course, we always need more contestants!

The pageant will be held at the Jamestown Community Center. Registration is 9:00am-10:00am. Central, and the pageant begins at 10:30 a.m. (Central Time). There are age divisions from babies through adults, plus a boys’ division and Stars & Sparkles.

Contestants can bring dog or cat food, puppy pads, litter, cleaning supplies, blankets, toys, or other pet items. Monetary donations count too.
Donations will earn points toward the Humanitarian Award, which will go to the contestant with the highest verified point total. There’s also a bonus for items designated as “Most Needed”! The flyer explains how points are counted, so larger quantities get credit. 🧡

🍂 Calling all our Lab, Doodle, & Doberman X lovers! 🍂

If you’ve been thinking about adding a puppy to your family, you might want to come see us tomorrow. 👀❤️
We’ll be at the Heritage Festival with some of our adorable puppies who are looking for homes! We will also have some beautiful kitties hoping to find their forever family. 🐱 Come meet them, love on them, and maybe leave with your new best friend. 🐶

This sweet soul came into our care yesterday in pretty rough shape. ❤️‍🩹 Under all of this fur is a precious living creature who deserved better in life. Severe matting covers much of the body, along with a concerning large growth around the face/ear that will need medical attention.

Thankfully, our gentle giant has already been assessed for any immediate emergency concerns & is currently stable. A veterinary appointment scheduled for Friday at 4:30 will be able to tell us more about our next steps.

For now, this dirty cotton ball is safe, comfortable, eating and drinking, and getting plenty of rest and love. 🤍🐾

If anyone would like to help with the upcoming medical care, donations toward Halo’s veterinary tab would be very appreciated. We don’t know exactly what we’re looking at medically yet, but we are hopeful for a full recovery.

🐶 We’ll keep everyone updated. 🐶

🐾🤍 𝗣𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘 #𝟭 𝗢𝗡 𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗞𝗔 🤍🐾
Our sweet Pyrenees had her visit with Highland Veterinary Hospital today, and we wanted to let everyone know about it.

We were able to shave out the worst of Alaska’s matting, along with most of the other problem areas that were pulling on her skin and making her uncomfortable. She also has a pretty large hot spot. There are still a few areas we need to work through, but we’re taking our time and doing everything in a way that keeps her as comfortable as possible.

As for the large mass around her face/ear, it will of course need to be surgically removed. It is a large tumor sitting just in front of her ear rather than actually involving the ear itself. It is uncomfortable for her, but thankfully the mass is fairly movable, which gives us some hope that removal will be more straightforward. Of course, we won’t know exactly what we’re dealing with until we get further into the process.

We are working with Highland to get her surgery taken care of and fit her into an already very full schedule. In the meantime, Alaska is safe, comfortable, being closely monitored, and finally getting the care she needs. ❤️

And we have to take a minute to brag on our amazing vet and staff. We truly could never thank Highland enough for the way they treat us and every animal we bring through their doors. We never have to question whether our animals are going to receive the care they deserve or worry about being taken advantage of. They genuinely care about our animals, they work with us when we need them, and every single person there has become someone we consider a friend.

Dr. Burress went out of her way today, even on a late notice, to help us shave out the worst of Alaska’s matting simply so this girl could be more comfortable. She didn’t have to do that, but that’s the kind of care Highland has always shown our animals.

They make an already difficult job a whole lot easier knowing our babies are in good hands. 🙏🏼

Thank you to everyone who has shared, supported, or donated to our vet tab so far. We already had a high tab, & of course it’s always growing. Alaska already has so many people rooting for her, and we’ll continue sharing her progress as she starts this next chapter. 🤍

Now she’s clean, she’s comfortable, she’s loved, and she’s finally getting the care she deserves.

We have SO many people to thank for this weekend. 💝 Not only did we raise over $700 for our animals in need, but one of them even found a home.🐾

❤️First and foremost, Full Throttle Campground ❤️thank you for choosing us for your very first Poker Run and for putting so much time, work, and heart into making this weekend happen. From the ride to the concert & everything in between, we had an absolute blast. We are beyond grateful this will be an annual occurrence & are already excited for next year!
