This year marked the 100th anniversary of the Lobdell Company fire. Friday, in memory of the four men who perished in the fire, we dedicated one of the sugar maple trees we were gifted. There were descendants of two men present as we honored their lives. Many others attended as well. Jacob Grochowski, Presque Isle and Cheboygan County district forester was on hand to give all in attendance education on basic tree planting and care through hands on instruction. We will eventually put a plaque there after construction is done.

We were gifted six trees, two sugar maples,one hawthorn and three white oaks, through a grant and we will plant these trees on the American Wood Rim property on August 21st. See details on flyer. Jacob Grochowski, PI and Cheboygan county district forester will be on hand to answer any of your tree planting or maintenance questions you may have. We are dedicating one of the sugar maples in memory of the four men who died in the tragic fire in 1926 of the Lobdell Plant.

Well, more bead board has been ordered for the lower porch. The columns have been beefed up and a cap put on above the shakes. The caps and the columns will be clad in white material eventually. Little by little progress is being made!
