We're excited to announce our newest project!
We've secured funds for professional installation of roofline lighting running across 26 downtown Onancock buildings at a key intersection - Market Street and North Street - serving as a gateway to the town.
Our goal is to enhance the beauty and charm of Onancock, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere for residents, visitors, and businesses. Research from similar initiatives demonstrate increased tourism, longer visitor stays, higher retail and restaurant sales, and an enhanced sense of community pride and safety.
We selected these lights to carefully balance enhancing the charm of town while being mindful of our nightime environment. The lighting is designed to be dark-sky compliant, providing a soft, subtle glow that points outwards and downwards. The lights will be turned off at a scheduled time each night, to coincide with closing times of downtown businesses.
This project is another step toward making Onancock a place where residents are proud to live and visitors want to return!
