Tornado Youth Hockey is excited to welcome you to Onalaska, WI for our Frosty Faceoff Mite Jamboree & Tournament in two weeks! Here is some general information for you:
1) Rink Address:
Onalaska Omni Center
255 Riders Club Road
Onalaska, WI 54650
2) Parking:
We anticipate parking to be somewhat challenging, especially on that Saturday midday. If our parking lot gets full, we have plenty of parking on the street and across the street in the aquatic center parking lot.
3) Rink Hours, Layout, and Rules:
The building will be open at least one hour prior to the first game each day.
There are two rinks within the building. When you arrive in the lobby, Rink 1 will be straight ahead of you with the main concessions to your left. Rink 2, all locker rooms, and the banquet hall will be located down the hallway to the right. We will have directional signs posted for you throughout the rink and our information table volunteers will help you navigate where to go!
The Omni is owned by our city and they recently repainted all hallways, doors, and locker rooms. Please be respectful of the building. No stick handling in the hallways/lobby and no carry-ins. Of note, the west wing (past the main concession stand) is closed to the Jamboree & Tournament due to other scheduled activities.
Please be aware that the Omni Center is cashless for concessions. ALL raffles and activities will take cash or Venmo. Our Venmo code will be displayed as needed and will have a reference to “mites” in the note line.
4) Locker Rooms:
Locker Room Assignments will be posted in the lobby on the television and also on a large board in the lobby. Additionally, your team’s logo will be outside each locker room. Due to the amount of teams participating in the Jamboree & Tournament, we will have shared spaces.
All locker rooms are located to the right, down the hallway, in alphabetical order.
Please note that locker room assignments may change Saturday and/or Sunday morning due to trying our best to accommodate the game schedules.
5) Hockey Shooting Zone:
While the Omni Center does not allow stick handling in the hallways, we do have an area to shoot and play inside rink 2 in the back right side on a first come first served basis.
6) Skate Sharpening:
We have in-house skate sharpening offered at the following times for $10 cash or Venmo ($5 for TYH families). Of note, this is NOT affiliated with the Omni Center’s Skate Shop. This is located in the “Coach’s Office” with the TYH logo down near the end of the hall past Locker Room G:
*8am-10am
*12:30pm-2:30pm
*More availability could be announced as well - TBD
*If these timeframes do not work for you, Gameday Supply in Onalaska (close to the rink) or Play it Again Sports near the mall will be able to help!
7) Scoring/Results:
We will be using GameSheet for official scoring for the tournament. Additionally, pool play and bracket results will be displayed at the information table in the lobby, on both rink doors, and on the glass of each rink.

8) Goodie Bags:
ALL skaters in the Jamboree & Tournament will receive goodie bags that will be separated by Jamboree & Tournament in the locker rooms (beginner and intermediate bags will be together while the advanced bags will be separated). This is due to the medals for the jamboree being given right away in the bags and the medals for the tournament will be given on that Sunday.
9) Medals & Trophies:
ALL skaters will receive a medal. As stated above, the skaters in the Jamboree will receive their medals in their goodie bags. While the skaters in the Tournament will receive their medals on the bracketed day of the tournament (Sunday). Teams placing 1st-3rd in the Gold & Silver brackets will get designated placed medals while teams 4th and beyond will get the other tournament medals. Teams placing 1st-3rd in both divisions will have a medal and trophy ceremony on the ice. All other teams will have their medals given to their coach or team manager after their last game on Sunday.
10) Patches:
We have designed and made our own patches for this tournament to add some extra fun for the skaters! Your skaters will be able to earn up to one patch of each throughout the weekend. If time allows, we will try to announce these during the last games for each team on Sunday (and for sure during the 1st-3rd place games). Our mock ups are below.
Another post will be made with our rink happenings and vendors! Again, this was all sent out in our welcome letter to mite coordinators/team managers for all teams. Thank you!!!
