At CASA for Kids, our mission is to promote the best interests of children in abuse and neglect cases by providing court appointed special advocate (CASA) volunteers in care and protection proceedings under Chapter 48 of the Wisconsin State Statutes. Our Mission

We value every child's right to a safe and permanent home. We value honesty, integrity, and compassion. We value accountability and commitment. The CASA for Kids Program serves children ages birth to 18 in La Crosse, Vernon and Monroe Counties who have been determined by the court to be Children in Need of Protection or Services. The CASA for Kids volunteer is appointed as an Officer of the Court and assigned to a child under the court’s jurisdiction to provide information regarding the welfare and best interests of that child. A CASA volunteer is not only court-appointed, but a trained and committed adult who ensures that each child's individual needs and their safety remain priorities in our over-burdened child welfare system. A CASA volunteer maintains a positive and consistent presence while supporting and encouraging them. They also gather information from everyone involved in the child's life, in order to make independent and informed recommendations to assist the judge's decision on what is best for the child. A CASA volunteer is more than a volunteer, they are an advocate and the voice for a child in need of protection.

On Nov. 15th, CASA held its very first annual fundraiser social. It was a pivotal moment for our organization to bring forth awareness and rally support from the community. We attended the Wisconsin CASA Association State conference and reconnected with all the directors, WI CASA board, and our mission. At the annual Act 78 Hearing on child abuse and neglect in Wisconsin, the Department of Children and Families and local experts provided information about child welfare and trends in the cases investigated by child protective services. Research into the broader patterns that have emerged from the data will help us work to do more to protect children. As the ranking member on the Assembly Children and Families Committee, I will continue working with my colleagues to craft policy solutions to keep kids in Wisconsin safe.

On Tuesday, CASA programs across the state, alongside Wisconsin CASA Association, and CASA for Kids' board members, attended the senate hearing from the Assembly Committee on Children and Families and Senate Committee on Mental Health, Substance Abuse Prevention, Children and Families. We are holding our 1st Annual Fundraiser Social on Saturday, Nov. 15th and we hope our CASA community can join us or contribute to our very first event. We served over 50 children this past year with over 100 still on our waitlist, we need your support more than ever.
