After 15 years of gracing this earth, the last of the Core Four has crossed over. K9 Dusty, Bremerton PD, spent his life doing exactly what he was built for—working hard, loving harder, and showing up every single day with that steady, dependable heart of his.

From long training days to real-world deployments, Dusty gave everything he had to his community and his handler. And when the vest came off, he lived the good life—camping, exploring, and being part of a family that adored him.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of K-9 Rex, a dedicated guardian who served behind the walls of our correctional facility. He was a loyal partner who ensured the safety of our staff in a dangerous environment every day.

Rex died in the line of duty yesterday after ingesting a lethal narcotic while searching inmate mail for contraband. He alerted to the substance, absorbing the fatal exposure and preventing the drugs from entering the facility.

Over his four-year career, he intercepted countless weapons and illicit substances, saving lives before danger could strike. He was a tireless worker with a nose that was unmatched in the department.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Officer Jenkins, who lost his faithful partner and best friend. Rest easy, Rex; your sacrifice will never be forgotten.
