The Omro Area Community Center
The Omro High School was built in 1893. The Webster Manual Arts Training School was constructed in 1906. In 1909 an addition was added to the main high school building. The High School Annex (gym) was constructed in 1934. The High School moved to a new location in 1963 and the buildings were used as a middle school until 1982. The school sat empty until 1994 when renovation converted the main high school building into assisted living apartments for senior citizens, the Webster building into luxury apartments for senior citizens, and the gym into what is now the Omro Area Community Center. The ticket booth in the entry foyer is the only remaining piece of the original interior. The historic school complex is located on highway 116, centrally located in Omro, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building is split into two floors and is completely handicapped accessible. The Omro Area Community Center is a nonprofit organization and will be available for the use of those people who live in the Omro School District and surrounding rural area. It has various programs for all ages and is available for the use of area organizations and clubs as well for rental by private individuals for events.
