HOW DO YOU SAY OUR NAME?
As we step into this new era, we want to invite you to learn more about the name at the heart of our work:

mypənum ṕʔax

Translating to “Learning to Heal” in the nsəlxcin (Okanagan) language, our name carries meaning, connection, and intention. It reflects the journey we believe we are all on — learning from our experiences, learning from one another, and continuing the work of healing for ourselves, our communities, and the generations to come. 💛

In this video, we’ll help you learn how to pronounce our name and become more familiar with the words that represent who we are and the work we do.

Take a moment to listen, practice, and say it with us. ✨

mypənum ṕʔax — Learning to Heal.

We’re honored to share our name, our story, and this new chapter with you.

OUR ANNIVERSARY GIVEAWAY CONTINUES!

As we celebrate 5 years of mypənum ṕʔax - Learning to Heal, we want to take a moment to honor the knowledge, teachings, and wisdom that are passed from one generation to the next.

So we want to hear from YOU:

What is one piece of wisdom you would pass on to the next generation?

It could be something an Elder taught you, something your family has carried forward, a lesson life has taught you, a cultural teaching, or simply something you believe every future generation should know.

💬 Share your wisdom in the comments!

Your words might be exactly what someone else needs to hear. And by sharing, we help keep knowledge, teachings, and stories moving forward. ✨

🎁 THE GIVEAWAY:
One participant will be selected to receive a custom handmade ribbon shirt OR ribbon skirt of their choice, made in their size!

This is more than a giveaway. It’s an opportunity to share what we carry, honor where our wisdom comes from, and think about what we want to leave behind for those who come after us.

What will you pass on? 🌱

5 Years of Learning, Growing, Healing, Educating & Protecting. 💛✨

In this video, hear from our Co-Founder & Executive Director, as she reflects on the journey we’ve taken and the work we’ve accomplished throughout these past 5 years.

As an Indigenous-led nonprofit, our work is rooted in the belief that healing is not something we do alone. It is something we nurture together — through connection to community, culture, knowledge, land, and one another. 🌿

We heal by creating spaces where people can reconnect with themselves, their communities, and the wisdom that has carried our people forward.

We educate by sharing knowledge, creating opportunities to learn, and helping our communities understand the stories, systems, and experiences that shape who we are.

We protect by honoring our people, our cultures, our communities, and the knowledge entrusted to us — while advocating for a future where generations to come can thrive.

For 5 years, we have been planting seeds. Some have grown into programs, some into relationships, some into new understanding, and some are still waiting for the right season to bloom. 🌱

This next chapter is about nurturing those seeds and stepping into a new era of purpose, connection, and possibility.

5 years behind us.
A new era ahead of us.
& the work continues.

Thank you for walking this path with us. 💛

OUR ANNIVERSARY GIVEAWAY CONTINUES!

We want to hear directly from YOU:

If you could create a program, project, or resource in your community to support healing, what would it be?

Maybe it’s a space for young people. A wellness program. Mental health resources. Creative arts. Community gatherings. Support for families. A place to learn, grow, and connect.
There are no wrong answers, we want to know what healing looks like to YOU and what your community needs most. 🌱

💬 Drop your idea in the comments!

& because we believe your voice deserves to be celebrated, everyone who participates will receive a small mypənum ṕʔax - Learning to Heal swag prize!
PLUS… one response will be selected to receive our FREE mypənum ṕʔax - Learning to Heal Swag Box!

Let’s dream bigger together. Let’s imagine what our communities could look like if we had more spaces, resources, and opportunities to heal.

Your idea could help shape what comes next. 💛

What was meant to be a celebration is simply becoming an even more meaningful one.

We are announcing that our anniversary gathering has been postponed as our communities continue to navigate the ongoing wildfires and the many important community events already taking place. We want to create a moment where our entire community has the opportunity to be present, connect, learn, and experience this new era with us.

While we haven't found the right space or date just yet, we know this gathering will be worth the wait. 5 years of work, growth, lessons, relationships, and impact deserve to be celebrated intentionally.✨

In this video, hear from our Co-Founder & Executive Director, Joy, as she shares about our new name and stay tuned for another video where she reflects on the work we've accomplished throughout these 5 years.

This isn't just a new name, it helps it represent the new era. A new chapter, and an even deeper commitment to the community we serve.

Stay tuned for our rescheduled anniversary gathering, online giveaways, and more opportunities to learn, connect, and celebrate with us!

Thank you for growing with us, believing in the work, and being part of this journey. We can't wait to share what's next.💛

🌱A New Name. The Same Sacred Purpose.
Some journeys aren’t measured by time alone. They’re measured by the lives they touch, the ancestors they honor, and the seeds they plant for those yet to come.

For the past five years, we’ve walked alongside our communities with a shared vision of healing, connection, and resilience. As we step into a new chapter, we are carrying a name that reflects the spirit of that journey.

mypənum ṕʔax — Learning to Heal.

More than a name, it is a prayer.
A promise.
A reminder that healing is not a destination but a lifelong relationship; with ourselves, one another, our languages, our lands, and the wisdom passed down through generations.🪶

As an Indigenous-led nonprofit, our roots remain deeply grounded in culture, education, language revitalization, community care, and stewardship of the land. This new beginning calls us to dream even bigger while remaining guided by the teachings that have always shown us the way.

✨ We invite you to gather with us as we celebrate five years of growth and the beginning of what comes next.

Together, we’ll share a meal, release new community projects, offer gifts from the heart, and celebrate the power of Indigenous knowledge, resilience, and collective healing.

🗓 August 22, 2026

📍 Location to be announced. Due to the ongoing wildfires in our area, we’re thoughtfully choosing a safe available gathering space. We’ll share location details as soon as they’re confirmed.

Once again, thank you to every person who has walked beside us, lifted us up, and believed in this vision. May we continue to remember that when we heal together, we create a future where our children, our grandchildren, and the generations still waiting to arrive can thrive.

The fire of our ancestors still burns within us.

Our story is only beginning. ❤️‍🔥

🪶 Every journey reaches a moment of growth—and ours has led us here.

We’re embracing a name that reflects the heart of our work:
mypənum ṕʔax - meaning Learning to Heal in the nsəlxcin language.

This change represents our continued commitment to uplifting Indigenous communities through culture, language, education, healing, and caring for the land. It honors where we’ve come from while guiding the path ahead.

To everyone who has supported, encouraged, and believed in our vision we thank you. Your presence has helped shape this next chapter, and we’re grateful to continue this journey together.

Here’s to moving forward with purpose, rooted in our teachings, our communities, and hope for the generations yet to come.

✨ This is only the beginning.

Honoring Our River, Our Salmon, Our Future 🌊

We are honored to share that our Board Chair Emily attended the Enloe Dam Salmon Ceremony, a meaningful gathering celebrating the importance of restoring to our river.

She shared how special it was to gather with community, reconnect with the land, and enjoy one of our traditional foods, salmon. These moments remind us that healing happens when we come together to honor our traditions, our waters, and the generations who came before us and those yet to come. 💙

At mypənum ṕʔax (Learning to Heal), we believe not only healing but education and awareness are essential to land stewardship.
Healing requires healthy lands, healthy waters, and strong connections between people, culture, and future generations🌱

Together, we continue to support efforts to restore our river, protect our natural resources, and ensure that future generations can experience the gifts of salmon and the teachings they carry.
