📚📚Our Carter Lake teens are showing us why the tassel is worth hassle!

👨‍🎓👩‍🎓Youth of the Year is growing rapidly near for Carter Lake Club and Mr. Oliver has been on top of making sure our youth's speeches are ready to go. Editing, re-reading, and helping our members find the confidence to recite their speeches in front of an audience is no easy feat, but all things are possible here at Club!

North Club's Youth of the Year and Jr. Youth of the Year Competition is here! It was so exciting to have our eight candidates representing the club. The competition was really close. Each candidate had amazing speeches and essays. We are so proud of them for working diligently and being brave!

👩‍🎓👨‍🎓Our Youth of the Year winner is Raleigh Young! Our Jr. Youth of the Year winer is Shirley Mosley!

📚📖Big thank to our very own Ms. Lupe and Ms. Ayanna for helping all candidates perfect their essays, write their speeches, and practice interviews. We would also like to thank our judges Jacques Musavyimana, Arione Nelson, and Mekai Sanchez for helping to make our competition possible and the awesome work they do in the community.

The competition was a success, and we are excited to celebrate with our teens!

Today we had the joy of touring Southeast Community College in Lincoln! We were able to tour criminal justice, health science, esports rooms, the welding facility and more! We also got to explore the dorms a bit as well. We topped off the trip with lunch at Raising Canes. Needless to say, our members had a great time and were able to explore some new and existing interests!

On Tuesday, 13 teens from our North Omaha Boys & Girls Club , Carter Lake Boys & Girls Club , and Bryan Middle Boys & Girls Club had the opportunity to visit Metropolitan Community College's Culinary and Horticulture programs! Before the tour, they enjoyed lunch at Sage Bistro , where they experienced student-prepared cuisine firsthand. Thank you to MCC for welcoming our teens!

We want to give a special shoutout to our amazing Youth of the Year, Andrea, who represented Nebraska and Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands at the Midwest Regional Youth of the Year Competition in Chicago! Andrea had an incredible experience meeting and connecting with other youth leaders from across the Midwest and making unforgettable memories along the way. She gave it her all during her speech, interviews, and essays, and represented BGCM and Nebraska with pride. The judges had the chance to hear from so many inspiring young people who shared their stories, personalities, and passion for their Clubs and communities.
This experience challenged Andrea, helped her grow, and gave her memories and lessons that she brought back home with her. We are so proud of everything she accomplished and can't wait to see what the future holds for her. A special thank you to everyone who helped make this experience possible and supported Andrea throughout her journey. Your encouragement and support meant so much and helped make this opportunity one she will never forget. Congratulations to all of the participants, and congratulations to Brook’Lynn and Fatimazahra on being named the 2026-2027 Midwest Youth of the Year and Midwest Military Youth of the Year!
