Celebrating birthdays with Good on the Go! 🎂

More than twenty Tenaska employees came together through United Way of the Midlands' Good on the Go program to make a meaningful impact for local families. Volunteers assembled 275 Birthday Kits filled with cake mix, candles and all the essentials needed to celebrate special moments for clients of the Women's Center for Advancement and Firefly. As part of their employee giving campaign, Tenaska hosted a second Good on the Go earlier in the month assembling 275 Welcome Home Kits to help individuals and families. Together, their generosity helped bring both joy and comfort to neighbors in our community when they need it most. Thank you, Tenaska!

Caffeine for a Cause! ☕ Alvine brought employees together for Jo on the Go, complete with coffee, smoothies, a raffle and an opportunity to learn more about the impact of United Way of the Midlands.

And they didn't stop there! Employees also rolled up their sleeves for a Good on the Go volunteer project, assembling kits for families served by the Latino Center of the Midlands.

Special thanks to Campaign Managers Natalie Christman and Traci Matthew, who put in so much work to put it all together!

Connecting today's workforce with tomorrow's talent!

Zackry Group kicked off its United Way campaign with a team luncheon in Omaha and a special spotlight on JAG Nebraska, which helps students explore career opportunities, develop workplace skills and prepare for success after high school.
It's a great example of how corporate partnerships can help strengthen opportunities for young people and build a stronger future workforce.

Thank you to Zachry's leadership team for their continued commitment to our community and to Kayce Rich for helping bring the Omaha team together around this year's campaign!

Six States. One Firm. Stronger Communities. Schemmer is bringing employees together across locations through virtual kickoffs, in-person activities and a little friendly competition as part of this year's United Way campaign!

From a Pie in the Face Challenge to their annual Chili Cookoff, employees are finding creative ways to connect with colleagues and make a difference in their communities.

A big thank-you to Lona Smart for helping lead the effort and to the entire Schemmer team for showing what it means to be one firm making an impact across service areas!

In reviewing our Signals and Trends report this past week during our Annual Meeting, we took a closer look at the pressure working families are facing. While conventional markers, including economic growth and strong employment, point to a resilient regional economy, increases in the cost of housing, food and other essential needs have placed greater strain on household budgets. In this time of growing financial hardship, we see that our community continues to respond. Read the full report at https://hubs.la/Q04BVv4s0.

United Way of the Midlands’ Citizens of Year Award was first presented in 1972, and this recognition is granted to individuals for their efforts for and “on behalf” of United Way of the Midlands, along with other volunteer-based endeavors that are dedicated to the present and future strength of our community. We were honored to recognize the Hamann Family as our 2026 Citizens of the Year during our Annual Meeting earlier this week. From humble beginnings to investing in the arts, education and beyond, giving back is the common thread that runs through their work. Learn more about the Hamann Family by watching the video below:
