An AWESOME partner and cause!

For 39 years, the Omahawks Radio Control Club has helped make wishes come true through its annual Labor Day Airshow. This year, they went above and beyond, raising an incredible $8,000 for local wish kids!

I went out to the field today to see what the rain did. The weather station said we had almost 8.5 inches of rain in the past 24 hours. Considering that the field did fine. no visible damage to the runway or structures. The new stairs to the north held up really well. As you might expect the driveway washed out a little but no more than it has in the past.
Standing Bear lake is really high. The boat dock is submerged and the driveway is under water up to the island so you can't turn around. There looks to be a lot of walking path on the east side of the lake that is underwater. see photos below.

WOW, THAT IS COOL!! Our very own Fred Wilke, a longtime Omahawks member, got to fly in a powered paraglider last week at the Endless Foot Drag paramotor fly-in in Fredonia, Kansas! Fred's grandson, Luke, is a Kansas-based engineer and paramotor pilot who helped arrange the ride with a tandem-certified paramotor instructor.

For those who don't know him, Fred is a longtime Omahawks flight instructor who has helped countless young RC pilots solo. He's a master pancake maker during our annual Memorial Day Egg Burn and is well-known for flying crazy and unusual aircraft during our Labor Day Air Show, including a glow-powered American flag and a human-sized flying Superman and Batman.

We're sure the flight was a thrill for Fred. For his grandson, who flew who next to him, it was a special moment. Says Luke: "Got to fly with my grandfather, who fostered my love for aviation since I was little and is a big reason I fly!"

NEW FEATURE ALERT! Ever wonder about localized weather conditions at Hawk Field? Now, you can check what's happening in real-time, anytime!

We recently purchased and installed a new weather station that anyone can access online. Just go to omahawks.org and open the main menu in the upper-lefthand corner (click on the three horizontal lines). On the right side of that menu, you'll see a tab labeled "Our Field." Under "Our Field," click the "Live Weather Conditions" link to access the weather station data.

You'll have to scroll down a bit on that page to see the weather info, but it's there for your viewing pleasure! Here's hoping for calm winds and blue skies!
