Join us this Saturday, May 23 at 1:00 PM at Cali Commons! Collage artist Dianne Fago will be sharing insights into her creative process and artistic journey.
Here's a little bit about Dianne:
My collage pieces flow from my inner world, in response to my personal emotions and experiences. My collage work grew out of my love of art journaling, where I learned I could express my emotions through paper on a page. Hours of hand-cutting and shaping individual paper pieces lead to intricate intertwining, forming unified, frameable pictures that capture what I can't put into words. From a distance, my pieces seem flat and like a print, but up close you are able to see how each element is woven over and under and through each other to create the finished piece.
When I create abstract art, it's a deeply tactile experience for me. Bold colors and rich textures transform these feelings into finished pieces. I love the act of feeling the paint on my fingers, letting my hands guide the process. I layer different materials, creating surfaces that make the viewer wish they could reach out and touch the canvas. There's a true satisfaction in how the paints flow and blend, building up the rich surfaces and textures that become central to my artwork. This direct, physical connection to the art allows for my intuitive expression, letting the materials themselves speak as much as my intentions.
Through art, I bridge inner feelings with outer expression. I invite viewers to explore color, texture, and intertwined forms, finding their own connection in my artwork. Omaha, Nebraska, has been my home since December 1996, where I've raised my five children. These daily rhythms and family experiences deeply shape the narratives I create. Every brushstroke and cut reveals truths within my unique journey and my art is how I am able to share my journey with others. - Dianne Fago
