💡Relationship Wisdom: Simple but Not Easy💡

Real maturity in a relationship isn’t about avoiding problems—it’s about facing them together. The truth is, healthy love requires the courage to sit down and say:
👉 “Look, this is our problem, and this is how we’re gonna fix it.”

That sounds simple. But without humility, patience, and effort from both partners, it’s not easy. Relationships thrive when there’s commitment to listen, learn, and love through the hard parts.

📖 The Bible reminds us:
• “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor.” — Ecclesiastes 4:9
• “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” — Ephesians 4:2
• “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” — Proverbs 27:17

When we embrace these truths, conflict becomes an opportunity—not a threat. It’s about building together, not breaking apart.

🎙️ Brought to you by the Key Relationship Podcast—where we unpack real conversations for couples who want to grow stronger, together.

✨ Good Love is On the Way – A Different Meaning Now ✨

When John Mayer released “Good Love Is On the Way” nearly 20 years ago, I heard it as just another hit single about relationships. But now, with spiritual maturity, hindsight truly is 20/20.

Today, the song speaks to me in a deeper way. The “good love” Mayer sang about is more than human connection—it points to the greatest love of all, found in the Word of God. 💖📖

Scripture reminds us: “We love because He first loved us.” (1 John 4:19). The Lord has already shown us what true, unconditional love looks like. It was always on the way—through Christ, it already arrived. 🙌

Now I understand that the love we search for in people cannot compare to the love already written in the Bible, waiting for us to embrace it. 🎶✝️

Good love isn’t just coming—it’s already here. And it’s eternal.

The Reynolds Family & A Lesson in Grace

Life has a way of circling back. In high school, I knew Wayne Reynolds Jr., as he was a senior while I was just a freshman running track. Fast forward years later, Wayne entered the financial services industry and reached out for advice as a newbie. I shared my personal experience, offering him insight on navigating the industry.

In our conversation, Wayne shared some things that reminded me of a deep truth: to always humble myself before God. The Bible speaks clearly in Galatians 6—about gently restoring others, guarding our own hearts, and exercising self-control. It was a moment of reflection, not just about Wayne, but about myself and how we all must remain accountable before God.

More recently, I’ve come across another layer of this journey. Nicole Reynolds, Wayne’s wife, someone I’ve only had two personal conversations with, has spoken words that do not reflect who I am or my character. I want to respectfully say this: gossip has no place in God’s kingdom. The Bible warns us many times about the power of the tongue and the destruction it causes when we speak without truth or love.

Especially on private social media groups on Facebook called “Beware of..” and “Are We Dating the Same Guy”

Nicole, I say this under God’s grace and with full respect: 🛑 Please stop. If there’s ever a concern, the respectful, Christlike path is conversation—not rumor. I once extended an offer for open dialogue, couple-to-couple, in the spirit of reconciliation and grace. That offer was declined. Wayne himself expressed that he does not believe in God, but I do. And because I do, I must walk in truth, humility, and love—even when it is hard.

This is not about judgment but about protection of character, the dangers of gossip, and the reminder that God calls us all higher.

🙏 Proverbs 16:28 — “A perverse person stirs up conflict, and a gossip separates close friends.”

May we all seek peace, accountability, and grace in our words and actions.

💬 Love Languages & Lasting Commitment in Marriage 💍

Most people have heard of The 5 Love Languages by Dr. Gary Chapman — words of affirmation, acts of service, quality time, gifts, and physical touch. It’s a book that has helped countless couples better understand how they give and receive love.

But here’s the truth that doesn’t always get said: learning your partner’s love language is not a “one-and-done” task. Marriage isn’t static — it ebbs and flows through new seasons of life. What filled your spouse’s love tank in year one may look very different in year ten.

✅ New jobs.
✅ Children.
✅ Financial shifts.
✅ Health challenges.
✅ Personal growth.

All these changes can shape how we feel loved and how we show love. That’s why marriage requires responsibility — the responsibility to keep investing in each other, to keep studying your spouse like a lifelong course, and to keep adjusting when life changes.

True commitment means we don’t just assume, we ask. We don’t just remember, we relearn. And we don’t just say “I love you,” we make sure it’s being heard in the language that matters most.

❤️ Marriage isn’t about perfection — it’s about consistent, intentional effort. Love is both a feeling and a responsibility.

So ask yourself today: Do I know my spouse’s love language for this season of life?

❤️ What’s Your Heart Condition? ❤️

When a seasoned marital counselor asks, “What’s your heart condition?” they’re not speaking about physical health—they’re pointing to the posture of your heart in love, marriage, and faith.

Let us prey and obey the call of the spirit!
🎶 Love Songs that Last Forever: Jon B’s Classics 🎶.

When it comes to timeless R&B love songs, few artists capture the heart like Jon B. His classics “They Don’t Know” and “Are You Still Down” featuring 2Pac remain cornerstones of R&B culture—songs that defined love, trust, and connection in the late 90s and still resonate today.

👉 “They Don’t Know” is more than just a song—it’s a promise. A message to a partner that no matter what the outside world says, the love they share is real and undeniable.

👉 “Are You Still Down” with 2Pac takes it even deeper. It’s about vulnerability, loyalty, and asking the real question that tests love over time: Will you still be here through it all?

These songs remind us that relationships aren’t just about romance—they’re about trust, faith, and commitment.

💡 TONIGHT on the 🔐KEY Relationships Podcast, Jermaine Hickey of the Hickey Advisory Group and Key Commercial Management Group, LLC will break down the lyrics, the lessons, and the love behind Jon B’s greatest hits.

✨ Join us for a conversation that bridges music, love, and real-life relationships. Because just like great music, true love never goes out of style.

Plans vs. Ex*****on — The Follow-Through That Changes Everything

In sports and in sales, there’s one lesson that always sticks: Follow through. Coach drilled it into us, and over time, I realized it wasn’t just about a swing, a shot, or a throw—it was about life.

I’ve been blessed with a rare mix: the ambition to dream big and the skill to actually follow through. And I’ll admit—there’s something magnetic about meeting someone who shares that same drive.

I never gave you the chance to see what that could look like. Without follow-through, it’s like shooting a basketball without a rim, kicking a field goal without posts, or sinking the perfect birdie putt with no hole in the green. All the motion in the world, but nowhere for the win to land.

If you get the point, then maybe you already know… this could be destiny. And if that’s true, there’s only one thing left: take action, execute, and make the call—402-881-0409.

The only difference between dreaming and living it… is time and follow-through.

Most people catch that I initially put the wrong number in there! Honestly, I did that on purpose—I wanted to see if people would actually fall for it because my real intention wasn’t to have a flood of calls coming in.

I’ve had success in relationships, no doubt. But along the way, I also had people take advantage of me. Looking back over all my past relationships, I believe most of the women would say I was a good man at heart.

The dealbreaker—now that I’m more mature in my spiritual walk—has always been sin. And not just any sin, but my own. I stumbled, falling into the traps of temptation, chasing after other women, and honestly, chasing after the wrong things in the world. But more than anything, I stumbled away from myself.

My most recent wife asked me once how old I was when I had this revelation. I told her it was at 25, after a serious car accident that shook my whole life. By the grace of God, I’m still here to tell this story—what led me to Love Church, and ultimately to a new life.

For that, I am proud, and I will give the Lord praise for the rest of my days. But I’ve also learned from people like Jim Slauson, the former FBI agent, to be bold in my faith and evangelism. Because there are some non-negotiables in life for me now.

I will not let people ignore the truth I’ve come to know. My walk of faith has taught me to stand firm, be honest, and live in the light of that revelation every day.

PT, I love you and your word — it’s so right and so true!
What I love even more is how you, Todd Doxzon, and Adam Wright always point me (and everyone) to HE! 🙌

I’d love to share more about this on the KEY Relationships Podcast — a platform I use to give Him praise for the rest of my days! On it, I talk about my own walk with God and how I’ve learned from the faith journeys of others — from the Paul & Timothy relationship, to lessons from Love & Respect, to Heart Care Ministry, to the ups and downs of marriage and divorce.

The most important thing I’ve learned: The Lord our God is in the middle of every relationship.
And sometimes — like the song says — we have to try to meet in the middle. That’s how I try to “walk it out,” and that’s why I started the podcast: to help others understand what it means to practically live out our faith walk.

PT — I would love for you to co-host an episode with me to share your wisdom and further explain what it means to walk it out in real life. Let’s make it happen! 🎙️🙏

Be Careful Who You Get in Bed With — Literally and Figuratively.

In business, that phrase isn’t just a cliché — it’s a warning. I truly believed I had the perfect partner in life and in business. My significant other and I were saving up to launch our dream venture. I thought, what could be better?

Until the day I found out she took the startup funds — every penny we’d worked for — and blew it all on a birthday shopping spree out of town. 🎂

It’s wild how quickly someone can go from being your ride-or-die to your biggest liability. Lesson learned: love may be blind, but business should never be.
