For the past 9 years, one incredible foster mom has opened her home to children in need of safety, healing, and love. What started as helping a friend with respite care turned into a lifelong calling that has impacted countless lives.

Crystal a single foster parent, has provided not only a safe place for children to land but also lasting relationships that continue long after reunification. One little girl who stayed in her home for nearly 3 years is still considered family today, proof that foster care is about building connections, support, and hope.

Crystal also used her medical background to provide care to children with serious health concerns and help them receive life-changing care.

"Foster parenting isn’t always easy, but stories like this remind us of the incredible difference one person can make."

By focusing on early identification, rapid engagement, and a collaborative care team, the program helps individuals stay connected to school, work, and their communities while improving long-term recovery outcomes.

Our President and team attended the 2026 FFTA-For the Good of Families Federal Policy Institute in Washington, D.C., where they connected with Nebraska’s staff to advance important conversations.

This year’s institute focused on strengthening foster care and adoption services, expanding support for older youth and those transitioning out of care, promoting child and family economic stability, and reinforcing caregiver and provider capacity.

We are proud to be part of the ongoing work to create stronger systems and better outcomes for children, youth, and families.

🌱 Exciting things are happening this season in Omaha! Our Global Roots farmers are growing strong—153 refugee growers cultivating 8.5 acres and on track to harvest more than 50,000 lbs of fresh produce! 🍅🥕

This year, we’ve teamed up with Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) to enhance farm leasing, insurance, and crop diversity training. We're also collaborating with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to provide vital business planning resources and loan education for beginner and minority farmers.🚜

Plus, our partnership with Iowa Western is thriving, with our farmers diving into greenhouse production and seed-starting with seeds from their home countries.🌼

A highlight of the season: Our farmers are connecting with the USDA Farm Service Agency to explore beginning farmer loans, and developing business plans!

Earlier this month, our western Nebraska team showed our appreciation for local law enforcement by delivering treats and heartfelt thank-you notes for Law Enforcement Appreciation Week.

They also had the honor of meeting with the Pony Express group, who bravely ride across Nebraska, collecting letters to deliver to the Lincoln Capitol Hill.
