Millard South Post Prom

Millard South Post Prom We are a non-profit organization made up of parent/family/community volunteers. We also work hard fundraising! Our budget for this ranges from $35,000-$40,000.

We are a non-profit organization with a committee consisting of parent and community volunteers who work hard year-round to plan a safe, fun and memorable Post Prom event! We work year-round preparing the event theme, foods, entertainment, decorations, and so much more. And with the help of parents, community members, and businesses who donate and/or volunteer, we are able to host a FANTASTIC afte

r-prom event! Our Post Prom event is held right after Millard South Prom, from 11:30pm - 4:00am. We provide a safe, alcohol-free, supervised, yet fun event for approximately 600 kids. The only expense to the student is the ticket to get in. Once they students are through the doors...EVERYTHING IS FREE!!! In order to make this happen, it's imperative that we get donations, and help from our community! And we need parents from ALL student age groups! It really does take a VILLAGE!!! Where did post prom begin? The popularity of post-prom parties increased in the 1980’s. Concerns about underage drinking got parents thinking about providing safe after prom alternatives. After attending Millard South Prom, Beth Ann Brooks, 17, and Brian McEwen, 20, were killed when the Jeep Wagoneer that McEwen was driving, which plunged into a Sarpy County creek. The bridge had been removed to make way for the further Wehrspann Lake. Their bodies were not found for three weeks, and after there had been a nationwide search for them. Millard South Post Prom has continued the Post Prom tradition for almost 30 years, in memory of Beth Ann & Brian, and to give our kids a safe space after Prom.
