πŸ‚ Starting October 26 through December 4, the City of Omaha will offer six weeks of free curbside collection for paper yardwaste bags, and the material collected will be composted!

During this period, yardwaste will be collected separately on your regular collection day and stickers will not be required for paper yardwaste bags. (*Stickers are always required for bundles of brush). See details and restrictions at Wasteline.org.

πŸ‚ Other options for excess yardwaste:
-- The Oma-Gro composting facility at 6502 S 60th Street (60th & Harrison) will accept self-hauled yardwaste from residents at no charge. Be sure to check hours and restrictions before you go at OmaGro.com
-- Yardwaste can also be placed in your black-lid garbage cart at any time of year, however it will not be composted.

When your fall yard cleanup begins, remember to keep leaves out of the street!

Why? Leaves left on sidewalks and in the street can end up in storm drains, which eventually wash into our local waterways. Excess leaves from a large urban area like Omaha can harm aquatic ecosystems and wildlife.

Instead of sweeping or blowing leaves into the street, you can:

🍁 Use your mower to mulch the leaves back into your lawn
🍁 Compost them at home
🍁 Bag them for yard waste collection or take them to the Oma-Gro Receiving Facility at the former Al Veys Field, 6502 South 60th Street
🍁 Put them in your curbside waste cart

πŸ† Alfie Cascio β€” Restaurateur πŸ†

39 years in hospitality. One family legacy. A whole lot of heart. ❀️

Alfie Cascio grew up in the business, starting at Cascio’s Steakhouse in Omaha and learning from some of the people who helped build its legacy β€” his grandfather Joe Cascio, great uncle Al Cascio, great aunt Rosie Bruning, and his dad, Larry Cascio.

Today, Alfie carries that legacy forward as the owner of Cascio’s Steakhouse.

But for Alfie, owning a restaurant has never been just about running a business.

It’s about taking care of the people who take care of you.

That means his employees, his customers, his family, his friends, and the Omaha community that has supported Cascio’s for generations.

Whether it’s donating food, supporting a fundraiser, accommodating a last-minute family gathering, helping a college baseball team, or making sure an employee gets through a difficult time β€” Alfie believes in being there when people need you.

And sometimes taking care of his people means putting people ahead of profits.

That generosity of spirit is what makes Alfie such an important part of Omaha hospitality. His restaurant is more than a place to eat β€” it’s a gathering place, a family legacy, and a part of the Omaha community.

πŸ‘ Congratulations, Alfie Cascio, on your well-deserved induction into the Omaha Hospitality Hall of Fame!
