We work with many of the local Catholic high schools that help us advance our work in the community. We are a host site for the Creighton Preparatory School’s Arrupe Experience where a group of students volunteer in our warehouse for a semester. Students from this class have also supported us by hosting pillow drives and informing their communities about our work. Additionally, we have had several individual groups volunteer, most recently their Lacrosse team.

Our impact goes far beyond people’s comfort at home. Research published in the Journal of Health Care for the Poor and Underserved (JHCPU) from Johns Hopkins University Press has shown that having furniture in the home provides measurable emotional and psychological support for individuals and families establishing stable housing.

When we think about a stable home in cities like Omaha, furniture might not be the first thing that comes to mind. We work with many of the local Catholic high schools that help us advance our work in the community. We have hosted volunteer groups from Marian High School, Omaha, NE as part of their curriculum to connect volunteer experience to what they learn in the classroom. One of their student organizations, Project Welcome Home, has also volunteered with us.

We work with many of the local Catholic high schools that help us advance our work in the community. Students at Mount Michael Benedictine School have supported The Furniture Project through furniture drives, volunteering in the warehouse and donating our most needed items. Support doesn't stop with the students, Mount Michael’s Monastic Community has donated furniture from their Monastery.
