Investing in emerging talent is essential to Nebraska’s future.

As Allen Frederickson, Aksarben Governor and Chair of the Scholarships and Internships Committee, and Founder and CEO of Signature Performance, Inc., shared, this work is already happening across our state. Employers, educators, and partners are creating real opportunities for students and early-career professionals to gain experience, build skills, and take the next step.

The Nebraska Emerging Talent Awards (NETA) recognize those efforts and celebrate the people and organizations making an impact in every region.

Nominations are open through June 30. If someone comes to mind, now is the time to recognize them.

Big things happening in Northeast Nebraska!

Northeast Community College is continuing to create meaningful opportunities for students and employers through apprenticeship programs, including a new livestock management pathway with Svehla Farms.

One standout example is Grant Hanel, who is:

✔️ Working full-time
✔️ Learning directly from a mentor
✔️ Starting his Agribusiness degree this fall

That’s what “earn and learn” looks like.

As a partner in the ELEVATE Consortium and a scholarship partner of the Aksarben Foundation, Northeast is helping more students stay connected to local careers while supporting the needs of employers across the region.

Programs like this are strengthening communities and creating real pathways forward.

Nebraska’s growing role in innovation, workforce development, and economic competitiveness was front and center during the recent panel discussion, “Nebraska — At the Heart of Innovation and U.S. Competitiveness,” at The Durham Museum.

The conversation brought together an invited group of approximately 250 CEOs, college presidents, and business and civic leaders from across the region focused on the future of innovation and competitiveness in Nebraska and beyond.

We’re proud of Sandra Reding for representing the Aksarben Foundation alongside leaders from business, government, higher education, and industry.

Sandra highlighted the importance of statewide collaboration and initiatives like the ELEVATE Consortium to help expand work-based learning, strengthen employer engagement, and build stronger career pathways across Nebraska.

A strong reminder that Nebraska’s future growth depends on continued alignment across sectors working together toward shared goals.
