Centennial Art Contest Winner!
The Omaha Philatelic Society is proud to announce that Joyella Brick is the winner of the Society’s Centennial Art Contest for her artwork titled “Swartz Printing Stamp”! Joyella’s wonderful design shown below celebrates our stamp collecting club’s heritage and our 100th Anniversary.

Joyella’s design features the former Swartz & McKelvie Printing Company building where in the winter and early spring of 1926 a group of stamp collectors met informally to talk about stamps and exhibit their collections to each other. It was here that the group formed the Omaha Philatelic Society on April 23, 1926. The building still stands and is shown on our About Us page.

Joyella’s artwork will be used as a cachet on philatelic covers commemorating the Centennial of the Omaha Philatelic Society.

Joyella currently is studying Graphic Design at Northwestern College in Orange City Iowa. She said;

“From a very young age, I knew I loved making art. The pen, paint, and crayon doodles on my bedroom walls can attest to this. I started taking art classes in elementary school and honed in on my skills in high school. I hope to continue making art and someday get a job as a concept artist or illustrator for an animation company.”
