Don Bratetic, age 75, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away on December 31, 2025.

Don was born on June 11, 1950, and was a proud graduate of Omaha South High School, Class of 1968. He went on to earn his degree from Bellevue College in 1972.
Don dedicated more than 50 years of his life to the grocery business, serving both as a store manager and a sales representative. In addition to his professional career, he had a lifelong passion for comic books—as a collector, enthusiast, and business owner. He was the longtime owner of Ground Zero Hobby, successfully operating two locations for over 30 years and building a business that reflected his creativity, commitment, and love for the hobby.

Outside of work, Don cherished time spent with his family, especially spoiling his grandchildren whenever he could. He was a devoted Nebraska football fan and found great joy in life’s simple pleasures, often happiest while relaxing and watching his favorite television reruns - usually with his beloved dogs Chewy or Obi by his side. Above all else, Don was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose presence will be deeply missed.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Sherry; his sons, Dan (Kate) and Chris; his grandchildren, Natalie, Megan, Ben, and Luke; and his sister, Cindy (Bill Richards).

What a fun time out dancing with friends last night! Our high school classmate, Ben Tomasello (‘68) was retiring from the Generations performance group, so Steve (‘65) and I (‘68) got a bunch of friends together to come out to enjoy the music and the spirit of the Christmas season! Along with another classmate, Cheryl Wild (‘68) and her friend Heather, we had a group of us from our Aqua Fit water aerobics class at Mockingbird. Our friend Mary Sullivan loves to dance, and we love to sing along with the music of the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s plus Christmas tunes, so we went out to the American Legion #1 to have a great time together. Santa (Norm Melichar, ‘72) and his Elf (Steve Kovar, ‘70) added to the festivities, and Tod Fye spun Mary around the dance floor a few times! Plus Mary and I each got to sit on the laps of two different Santa’s (Ben was also dressed as Santa for one song.) Debbie Sullivan and Cat Pesek were also on hand to share in the fun!!! Wishing Ben a Happy Retirement, and a Merry Christmas to you all! 🦌🎄❤️🎄🦌
