Dear Lutheran Service Corps (LSC) friends, supporters, and partners:
On July 8, the LSC board made the difficult decision to bring the organization to a close, effective later this year. As many of you are aware, applications to service year organizations across the nation have been in sharp decline for over a decade, and LSC was not exempt from this trend. In the years 2020 and 2021, LSC was unable to fill the house with more than two volunteers. In 2022 and 2023, despite hard work and creative reorganization, LSC failed to recruit enough volunteers to have a service year. The board considered both the long-term trends for recruitment and mounting financial concerns when making their decision. They concluded that the time had come to bring LSC’s ministry to a close.
We are immensely proud of the more than three decades of service that LSC has provided to the Omaha metro area and are deeply grateful to all of you who supported us in making that possible.
Please keep an eye out for future communications concerning a closing event to honor the work of LSC and for plans to keep LSC’s legacy alive for years to come.
Thank you again for your friendship and support over the last 30 years. If you have any questions, please contact LSC Director Scott Glaser at [email protected].
