🍂 Starting October 26 through December 4, the City of Omaha will offer six weeks of free curbside collection for paper yardwaste bags, and the material collected will be composted!

During this period, yardwaste will be collected separately on your regular collection day and stickers will not be required for paper yardwaste bags. (*Stickers are always required for bundles of brush). See details and restrictions at Wasteline.org.

🍂 Other options for excess yardwaste:
-- The Oma-Gro composting facility at 6502 S 60th Street (60th & Harrison) will accept self-hauled yardwaste from residents at no charge. Be sure to check hours and restrictions before you go at OmaGro.com
-- Yardwaste can also be placed in your black-lid garbage cart at any time of year, however it will not be composted.

There are two weekends left of the Omaha Fall Cleanup! Now is the perfect time to clear out unwanted items and dispose of them responsibly.

Residents can take bulky waste items like mattresses, old furniture, and more to neighborhood drop-off sites throughout the city. City of Omaha Fall Cleanup events will take place on Saturday, October 17, and Saturday, October 24, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM each week. Residents are welcome to use any cleanup location, regardless of where they live in Omaha.

When your fall yard cleanup begins, remember to keep leaves out of the street!

Why? Leaves left on sidewalks and in the street can end up in storm drains, which eventually wash into our local waterways. Excess leaves from a large urban area like Omaha can harm aquatic ecosystems and wildlife.

Instead of sweeping or blowing leaves into the street, you can:

🍁 Use your mower to mulch the leaves back into your lawn
🍁 Compost them at home
🍁 Bag them for yard waste collection or take them to the Oma-Gro Receiving Facility at the former Al Veys Field, 6502 South 60th Street
🍁 Put them in your curbside waste cart

Grab your friends & sign up to volunteer at Keep Omaha Beautiful’s tree planting event on Saturday, October 24 from 12:30pm until 4pm. Individuals and groups from the community are invited to help plant more than 100 trees throughout Adams Park and Fontenelle Park. All supplies and instruction will be provided. Advance registration is required, and spots may be limited.

The City of Omaha will offer the 2nd of 4 Fall Cleanup Events on Saturday, October 10, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM in Southeast Omaha! 🚛🌎 Residents may use any cleanup location, regardless of which neighborhood they live in. For a complete list of accepted items and event details, visit: Cleanup.Wasteline.org

Southeast Omaha Cleanup Locations:
📍Bemis Park - North 34th Street and Lincoln Boulevard
📍Field Club Elementary School - 3522 Walnut Street
📍Duchesne Academy parking lot - North 36th Street and California Street
📍Metropolitan Community College northeast parking lot - 2909 Edward Babe Gomez Avenue (appliances, lead-acid batteries, and all metals will be accepted and recycled at this location)
📍Walnut Hill Elementary School - 4355 Charles Street

The Target Car Seat Trade-In event is back! Now through October 3, you can drop off a used or damaged car seat at participating Target locations, and that car seat will be recycled! Fun facts about the program:
♻️ To date, Target and its partners have recycled more than 3.8 million car seats.
♻️ Materials from donated car seats have been reused to make nearly 1.2 million products!
♻️ Since 2022, Target’s car seat trade-in program has diverted 2 million pounds of plastic waste from landfills.

The City of Omaha’s Fall Cleanup event is back! Time to clear out unwanted items and make room before winter. City of Omaha residents can take bulky items such as old furniture, mattresses, appliances, and more to neighborhood drop-off sites at no cost. On the first four Saturdays in October, Fall Cleanup sites throughout the city will be open from 9am-2pm each week. You do not need to be a member of a neighborhood association to participate.
