🎓 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: Landen H., Troop 139, Kearney, NE

Join us in congratulating Landen on his graduation!

An Eagle Scout, Landen earned the rank in 2024 and made the most of his Scouting journey. He attended NYLT in 2022 and discovered his passion for Scouting in the backcountry of Philmont Scout Ranch during a 12-day trek in 2023. He is a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow and played a role on the merger team that helped form Prairie Thunder Lodge.

Landen has also given back to Scouting through service, working on staff at Camp Cedars last summer where he taught the Wilderness Survival merit badge.

Beyond Scouting, Landen has been deeply involved in school activities including band, choir, quiz bowl, science olympiad, and golf. He also served as a lead tech crew member for musical and One Act performances. Known as the “handyman,” Landen has built a reputation for being able to fix just about anything both at school and within his Scouting community.

This fall, Landen will attend the University of Nebraska at Kearney to study mechanical engineering, with plans to complete his degree at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.

🎓 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: Sophia H., Troop 461G, Papillion, NE

Join us in congratulating Sophia on her graduation!

An Eagle Scout, Sophia was a founding member of Troop 461G and earned her Eagle Scout rank in 2024. She has demonstrated outstanding leadership through multiple positions and has taken part in incredible Scouting experiences, including a Florida Sea Base High Adventure expedition.

Sophia has been a dedicated member of Camp Cedars staff since 2022, serving on the aquatics team and stepping into the role of Lake Front Coordinator this summer. She is also active in Prairie Thunder Lodge #97 and will serve on staff at the 2026 National Jamboree.

At Papillion La Vista South High School, Sophia stayed highly involved in activities including marching band, concert band, winter percussion, show choir, NHS, and MESA.

In the fall, Sophia will attend Oregon State University, where she plans to major in Fisheries, Wildlife & Conservation Sciences with a minor in Environmental Law.

• From Memorial Day to the Fourth of July, Mid-America Council is collecting coins to help restore Omaha’s Statue of Liberty replica. Originally installed in Turner Park in 1951 as part of a national Scouting effort, the statue was removed in the 1970s due to damage and neglect. Now, in partnership with the Omaha Parks Foundation and in honor of America250, Scouts are bringing it back. Pick up a coin jar at the Durham Scout Center and return it there or to any Pinnacle Bank location.

• Do not miss out on the Chalco Hills Dinosaur Day Camp on July 11th! Register through the MAC calendar.

• Metro Membership Training will be held on July 18th at Lord of Love Church to help units prepare for fall recruitment and beyond.

• Scout Night with the Storm Chasers is set for July 31st. Join us for a fun night of baseball and Scouting spirit.

🎓 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: Derick B, Troop 212, Columbus, NE

Join us in congratulating Derick on his graduation!

An Eagle Scout, Derick has made the most of his Scouting journey, earning 62 merit badges and 7 Eagle palms. He has been an active member of the Order of the Arrow and has taken part in many memorable experiences, including multiple summers at Camp Cedars, a backpacking trip in Colorado, and attending the National Jamboree with a tour of Washington, D.C.

Derick’s Scouting story began early as a Cub Scout, where he earned his Arrow of Light and the religious knot. He was also double chartered in Troops 212 and 406, showing his deep commitment to the program.

Outside of Scouting, Derick has stayed active as a football team manager throughout middle and high school, played on his high school soccer team, and participated in AYSO soccer for 13 years.

After graduation, Derick has accepted a call to serve a two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Brazil São Paulo North Mission. Following his mission, he plans to attend BYU in Provo, Utah.
