For the first time in many years, we have to cancel Night Hike. 💔

Nebraska weather can be unpredictable, and unfortunately, the extreme heat has made this decision necessary. After communicating with our partners at Schramm Park, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel tomorrow’s Night Hike due to the heat advisory and, most importantly, for the safety of our guests, volunteers, and staff.

We are truly sorry. We were so looking forward to spending the evening with all of you!

The good news: we’re already working on our next event, with new adventures and more opportunities to explore together.

Every year, we invite Millard Public Schools employees to support the mission of the Millard Public Schools Foundation, and every year, the response is incredible. Today started bright and early with our Staff Campaign Kickoff, and this year’s theme couldn’t be more fitting: superheroes. Every day, they show up for students, families, and one another with care, dedication, and heart.

For three weeks, staff members can join in the fun, enjoy the theme, celebrate together, and most importantly, help us help others. And of course, there’s a little friendly competition between schools! 🏆 The best part? It’s not about the dollar amount - it’s about participation. Every person who joins in helps their school rise to the top.

Every gift matters. Every act of participation matters. And every dollar raised through Staff Campaign goes directly to our mission - supporting Millard students, families and schools. No operational expenses. Just mission impact.

We are so grateful for our Millard superheroes who give so much every single day, and continue to show up for our Foundation, too.

Last year was a record year for our School Wish List program - thanks to you! 💚
Because of the incredible support from our community, we were able to fully fund all 36 Millard Public Schools wish lists.

This year, we’re making a small change. Our Wish List program will be more focused on classroom enhancements - requests that can directly enhance the spaces where students learn, create, explore, and grow.

And we’ll let you in on a little secret… we’ve already seen some of the requests coming in from our schools, and we think you’re going to love them. They are thoughtful, intentional ideas that can make a real difference for students and educators.

Thank you for continuing to believe in this program and for making so much possible for our schools.

Looking for a part-time job that works well around your schedule?

We’re especially looking for team members who are available:
🌅 Mornings from Monday to Friday starting at 6:30 a.m. until 8:30 am
📅 Wednesdays, when Millard elementary students are dismissed earlier, around 2:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Spark is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with kids while building skills in leadership, communication, teamwork, and youth development. If you’re studying education, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing, or another child-focused field, or simply enjoy working with kids, we’d love to hear from you.

This week, our HR Manager, Erika, is representing the Millard Public Schools Foundation at the HR Nebraska Conference! ❤️

And it feels like the perfect opportunity to talk about something we’re especially proud of: our people and our culture. Our team includes employees who have been with the Foundation/Spark for just a few months - and others who have been here for more than 35 years.

Recently, during a team activity, employees were grouped by how long they had worked at MPSF. When some of our newest team members were asked to name one of the Foundation’s greatest strengths, their answer wasn’t about a program, a building or a benefit.

They talked about the culture. The kindness. The support. The feeling of being part of a team. The way people genuinely care about one another. And that means a lot, because culture isn’t something you simply write in a handbook or put on a website. It’s something people experience every day - through leadership, through coworkers, and through the way we treat one another.

We work hard to make MPSF a place where people know their work matters and where they know they matter, too.

So yes, Erika - we definitely have something worth sharing at an HR conference. 😊 Proud to have you representing MPSF there!

Young Adult Coffee Cart is getting ready for another year, and every year our students find new ways to make it even more special.

This year, MPS teachers and staff can look forward to coffee, handmade creations, gift card drawings, and a little extra encouragement from our Vase of Wishes filled with positive messages. And here’s a little behind-the-scenes secret: our Young Adults aren’t just creating crafts this year - they’re learning to use a 3D printer! Just imagine all the fun things that may start appearing on the Coffee Cart.

But the Coffee Cart is about much more than coffee and creativity.
For our Young Adults, it provides real-world experience they can carry with them after completing the program. They are learning about product development, customer service, organization, teamwork, and running a small business - skills and experiences they can proudly include on future CV and talk about with potential employers.

We love watching their ideas become real products - whether they begin with paint, paper, or a 3D printer.

Thank you to everyone who supports this partnership and helps create meaningful opportunities for Young Adults Program students.

If Night Hike isn’t on your family calendar yet, now is the time. We still have spots available, but registration is required! Night Hike is one of those must-do family events. Kids get their own passports, travel from station to station collecting stamps, explore the outdoors, discover more about nature… and yes, this year they’ll even meet our Lucky Ducks!
