Amanda, a beloved member of our community, died last week after a short battle with pneumonia. She was a former resident & also one of our first community participants after we opened the New Beginnings Campus at our community Center. In 2024, she received our first - and to date only - Pathway to Freedom Champion Award for impressively completing all our program pathways. You can see photos below of her receiving the award, & her walking through our Honor Guard of Light tradition with other survivors at the 2024 graduation where we celebrated this. She spread so much light & joy every day to us all, & our community is deeply mourning the loss.

Last week, our graduates, residents, & staff together went to say goodbye to Amanda while she was in the ICU, & we're very grateful to her family for letting us do so. We want to offer them our full support during this difficult time. In the image below you will see details of a Celebration of Life - please join us in attending. Her family also started a gofundme, https://gofund.me/e0554351e (note: this is entirely by and for the family, and these funds do not go to Magdalene Omaha in any way).

Please keep Amanda, her family & friends, and the Magdalene Omaha community in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you for being a part of who we are and what we do.

A Giant Woo-Hoo to long-time wonderful friends, the Order of the Daughters of the King, Province VI! Tesa & Michelle (2024 graduate) got to speak at their recent annual conference, they surprised us with a very generous donation, AND these super shoppers bought out our entire Thistle Lights sales table stock! We could not be more grateful to this group for all their support, and for the opportunity to experience beautiful Camp Comeca!

🚨Lisa for the Win, AGAIN - as part of our Housing Independence Pathway (HIP) program, Lisa moved into her very own, SUPER cool apartment today, with her very own furniture she purchased! Through the HIP program, graduates get to apply all the skills they mastered in our residential program, establish strong credit, and embark on this new adventure knowing they have additional program support this 1st year on their own. HIP participants gradually increase their financial contributions so that by the end of the year, they are 100% financially independent and confident!!

Please offer huge congrats to Lisa on this milestone achievement! If you would like to offer Lisa a housewarming gift, her preferred store is Walmart and gift cards can be sent to Lisa's attention at the Magdalene Omaha address (note: these gifts go directly to Lisa and are not tax deductible): 930 S. 48th Street, Omaha, NE 68106.

Tax deductible gifts to fund HIP and all our residential services are welcome anytime via our secure donor portal: https://secure.qgiv.com/for/madonatip!!

For , we're highlighting Michelle, our Thistle Lights Coordinator! Michelle graduated from our residential program in 2024, & is so incredibly talented that we hired her to lead Thistle Lights, our small business that offers job training experience for our residents. Since graduation, Michelle continues to soar to new heights. She's already completed certificate programs in business development & professional communication at MCC, & is currently working on one in IT - she's amazing!! Join us in celebrating Michelle with a Woo Hoo (and/or your own happy words) in the comments!!!

Wow! We're so grateful to the St. John the Baptist Philoptochos Society who surprised us today, in honor of St. Mary Magdalene, with a generous gift to support survivor healing journeys! This will do so much good for so many!! Christine even DOUBLE surprised us by answering an identified need & also dropping off toilet paper & super fancy, delicious K-cup coffees - WOO HOO!!!

Today, many churches celebrate Mary Magdalene, who we are named after! She was a historical person who went through terrible times, but held onto hope & came to believe in the power of healing. After she received that gift, she spent the rest of her life paying it forward - it's what we're all about here, and we're so grateful to our wonderful new friends St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church!!!
