🇺🇸 A Full-Circle Return to Walter Reed
WWFS team members John and Chelsea Mevey recently returned to Walter Reed while representing Wounded Warriors Family Support and Dunham House.
For John, a combat-wounded Marine and Purple Heart recipient who spent nearly three years recovering at Walter Reed, the visit was a powerful full-circle moment.
The mission continues and we are honored to be part of it. 🇺🇸💜

Come out, have some fun, and help make the Omaha Hot Cider Hustle a great experience for everyone!
📅 Sunday, October 25, 2026 ⏰ 6:30 AM – 11:00 AM 📍 Lake Zorinsky Aquatic Center 3808 S 156th St, Omaha, NE 68130
Volunteers will help with a variety of roles throughout the morning, including:
🏃 Registration & participant check-in 📣 Course marshaling & cheering on runners 💧 Water stations 🏅 Finish line & finisher medals 🧹 Event cleanup
Volunteer assignments will be made when you arrive, and you may have the opportunity to help in more than one area.

On Purple Heart Day, we pause to honor the incredible courage, sacrifice, and resilience of the men and women who have been wounded or lost in service to our country. We hold tight to those who carry the physical and invisible wounds of war, and we honor the memories of those who never came home.

For us, this day hits close to home. When Daegan made the ultimate sacrifice in Afghanistan, he was awarded the Purple Heart, a profound symbol of his bravery, selflessness, and devotion to his brothers in arms.

Daegan showed us what it means to lead with heart and live fearlessly. Today and every day, we continue his legacy by standing by our past and present service members and proving that love never ends.
