We are a group of consecrated Catholic women dedicated to meeting unmet needs, serving God, others and our world. No posting or linking to petitions.

Our social media policy: No ad hominem comments (against the person, rather than about the issue). No endless back and forth between the same two or three people. No snotty comments. No linking to things that have nothing to do with the post. No ridiculously long excerpts from Vatican documents: the relevant quote and a link will do. We will delete comments that we consider out of bounds. Overall,

please give everyone the benefit of the doubt--from the pope to the cardinals to priests to sisters to the laity. Everyone deserves charity.

Labor Day began more than 140 years ago as a way to recognize the contributions of American workers and the dignity of their labor.

Catholic Social Teaching reminds us that work is more than a way to earn a living. It is part of our human dignity and a way we participate in God’s creation. It also calls us to uphold the dignity of every worker and advocate for just wages, safe working conditions and opportunities for meaningful work.

Today, we give thanks for the dignity of work and for all those whose hands, hearts and talents serve others each day.

This Labor Day, honor someone whose work has made a difference in your life.

National Food Bank Day

Did you know Nebraska's food insecurity rate is 12.2%, surpassing the national average of 11.2%? Even more concerning, 1 in 5 children in our state are facing hunger.

At Notre Dame Housing, we are committed to addressing this pressing issue through our Life Enrichment Center Food Pantry. Open five times each month, every Friday from 1–3 PM and every third Wednesday from 10 AM–2 PM, we provide essential food resources to individuals and families in need, no questions asked. We are so grateful to our partners, Food Bank for the Heartland and Saving Grace.

The countdown is on! In just over a week, Notre Dame Academy alumnae will return to the Notre Dame Campus to reconnect, reminisce and celebrate 100 years of a place that holds so many memories.

Join us on Saturday, September 12, for the Notre Dame Academy Alumnae Reunion and Centennial Celebration.

On Women's Equality Day, we celebrate the dignity, strength, and contributions of women throughout history and in our communities today. We also recognize this day as a reminder that every person deserves the opportunity to use their God-given gifts and talents to help build a more just and compassionate world.

How can you honor Women's Equality Day?

• Thank a woman who has inspired, mentored, or encouraged you.
• Learn about women who have shaped history, your community, or your faith.
• Support women-owned businesses and organizations making a difference.
• Encourage and mentor girls and young women as they pursue their dreams.
• Speak up for the dignity, safety, and equal opportunities of all women and girls.
• Pray for women around the world, especially those facing discrimination, violence, poverty, or limited access to education and opportunity.

As we prepare to celebrate 100 years of the Notre Dame Campus, we invite you to journey with us through the moments of faith, service, education, and community that have shaped our story.

Long before Notre Dame Academy opened its doors in 1926, this land was known as Seven Oaks Farm. Purchased by the Notre Dame Sisters in 1920 as the site of their Motherhouse and Novitiate, the property became the foundation for a century of ministry, education, and service. On World Humanitarian Day, we honor those who work tirelessly to bring hope, healing, and dignity to people facing crisis, poverty, conflict, and injustice around the world. We also remember that each of us can be a humanitarian in our own community through simple acts of kindness and service.

Here are a few ways you can make a difference today:

• Volunteer your time with a local nonprofit or community organization.
• Donate food, clothing, or school supplies to those in need.
• Reach out to someone who may be feeling lonely or isolated.
• Welcome newcomers and extend kindness to your neighbors.
• Advocate for justice, peace, and the dignity of every person.

Celebrating the Assumption of Mary, Jesus’ Mother, into Heaven

This day is a rich opportunity to reflect on the kind of life Mary lived: a life of courage, service, and deep trust in God’s goodness. Her story invites us to consider what it means to say “yes” to love, justice, and compassion in the world. So, how can WE follow her example?

• Mary was a woman of courage. We can live her spirit of bravery by saying “yes” to something outside our comfort zone.
• Mary made space for quiet reflection and listened deeply. We can follow her contemplative spirit by making time each day to pause, reflect, and pray.
• Mary went in haste to help her cousin Elizabeth. We can live her spirit of generosity by offering help before someone asks.
• Mary stood with Jesus through his suffering. We can live her compassion by standing with someone who is hurting, even when we don’t know what to say.
• Mary believed in a God who lifts up the lowly. We can live her sense of justice by seeking ways to lift up those who are unseen, unheard, or underserved.

Mary’s life invites us to reflect on how we listen, how we love, how we show up for others, and how we trust in something greater than ourselves. As we honor her Assumption, may we be inspired to follow her example.
