🐛🌿 A Unique Neighbor Request!

Harvey Oaks neighbor Katie Bridges and her daughters found a Luna moth caterpillar in their yard and are hoping to help the little thing successfully grow and eventually turn into a beautiful Luna moth! 💚

There’s just one problem… they need walnut tree leaves/branches to keep their new friend well fed!

🌳 Do you have a walnut tree in your yard and wouldn’t mind sharing a few branches?

Katie would be more than happy to walk over and pick them up herself. If you can help, please comment below or reach out to Katie!

🍂 HARVEY OAKS FALL CLEANUP DAY 🍂

It’s time to clear out the clutter! Our annual Fall Cleanup is coming up:

📅 Saturday, October 3
⏰ 9:00 AM–2:00 PM
📍 Harvey Oaks Elementary — 15228 Shirley St.

Harvey Oaks will once again serve as a drop-off location for the City of Omaha Fall Cleanup.

✅ WHAT YOU CAN BRING:
• Bulky household items & furniture
• Carpet, rugs & padding
• General household clutter
• Wood scraps
• Small amounts of non-commercial construction/remodeling debris
• Appliances at designated collection sites

🌿 YARD WASTE:
Grass, leaves and branches under 2" must be taken to the designated Oma-Gro yard waste collection site and cannot be dropped off at Harvey Oaks Elementary.

♻️ APPLIANCE DROP-OFF INFORMATION

We’ve had some questions about appliances! Harvey Oaks Elementary is NOT an appliance drop-off site.

If you have appliances to dispose of, the City has designated one appliance recycling location each Saturday during Fall Cleanup. These locations also accept lead-acid batteries and all metals for recycling.

🚫 PLEASE DO NOT BRING:
• Tires or rims
• Commercial/contractor loads
• Paint, oil, toxic or hazardous chemicals
• Rocks, dirt, concrete or bricks
• Propane or other pressurized tanks
• Tree stumps or large trunks
• Regular household garbage that belongs in your normal curbside trash

⚠️ A QUICK PSA ABOUT WAIT TIMES

We want to clarify something important before this year’s cleanup. This is not a cleanup event exclusively for Harvey Oaks residents. This is part of the City of Omaha’s cleanup program, and Harvey Oaks is serving as one of the city’s drop-off locations.

Last year, we received some complaints about the length of the line, and unfortunately, some of our volunteers also received frustration and attitude from people who had to wait.

Please plan accordingly and allow yourself some extra time when coming to drop off your items. Depending on traffic and how busy the site is, there may be a wait.

Most importantly, please be patient and kind to our volunteers. ❤️ They are your neighbors who are giving up their Saturday to help keep the event moving and our community clean. They do not control how many people arrive at once or how long the line becomes.

A little patience and kindness goes a long way!

Fall cleanup is when Omaha residents can get rid of bulky items that don't fit in their cart. It's free and a joint effort between the City, Keep Omaha Beautiful inc., and the participating neighborhood organizations.

HARVEY OAKS — LET’S RALLY AROUND ONE OF OUR OWN

Many of you are aware of the frightening situation that took place in our neighborhood over the weekend. While we are incredibly thankful everyone is safe, one of our longtime neighbors, Renee Corcoran, was left with extensive damage to her home.

Renee has called Harvey Oaks home for more than 30 years. It’s the home she shared with her late husband and where she has built decades of memories. Thankfully, Renee was able to get to a neighbor’s home safely during the incident — and we’re also happy to report that her cat, who found a safe hiding spot in a closet, is safe and sound. ❤️🐾

Now it’s our turn as a community to be there for Renee.

The Harvey Oaks HOA has organized a GoFundMe to help with the unexpected expenses she is facing, including her insurance deductible, repairs, temporary housing, cleanup, damaged belongings and other costs associated with getting her home back together.

No donation is too small. If you’re unable to donate, simply sharing the fundraiser can make a difference.

Harvey Oaks has always been more than just a neighborhood. It’s a community that shows up for one another when it matters most.

Let’s show Renee just how many neighbors are standing behind her. ❤️

The emergency situation in the neighborhood has been resolved, and everything is now all clear. Residents and pets can safely resume normal activities.

Even with the summer heat, these Harvey Oaks yards are looking SO good!

🏡 15566 Shirley Cir
This yard is just so green and beautiful! The lawn looks amazing, and we love all of the mature trees and landscaping around the front of the house. Everything is so well taken care of and makes the whole property feel welcoming.

🌼 2328 S 155th Circle
Talk about COLOR! 😍 This yard immediately caught our attention with all of those gorgeous yellow flowers. We love all the different colors, plants, and flowers throughout the landscaping. You can definitely tell a lot of time and love goes into keeping this yard looking so beautiful!

🌳 14701 Arbor St
This lawn?! 😍 It is SO green and looks absolutely amazing! The landscaping is simple, clean, and beautifully maintained, but that huge, lush lawn is definitely the star of the show here.

🌿 2305 S 147th St
We love everything about this one! The beautiful green lawn, hydrangeas, ornamental grasses, shrubs, and that great walkway leading up to the house all work so well together. Everything looks so clean and cared for, and it gives this home such great curb appeal.

🎉 THAT’S A WRAP ON THE 2026 END OF SUMMER BASH! 🎉

What an incredible way to close out another summer in Harvey Oaks! ❤️

Events like the End of Summer Bash simply don’t happen without a LOT of people working behind the scenes, and we want to end this year’s celebration with one huge THANK YOU!

👏 To all of our volunteers — thank you for giving your time, energy, and helping hands to make the day possible.

❤️ A very special volunteer shoutout to Nicole and the entire End of Summer Bash Committee for all of the planning, organizing, coordinating, and countless hours that went into making this year’s Bash happen!

💪 Another huge thank you to Mike Tesner and family, along with our Friday night, Saturday morning, and Saturday night volunteers who stayed late, showed up early, set up, cleaned up, and did all of the behind-the-scenes work that most people never see. We appreciate you more than you know!
