Sammy Update: CALLING OUR PRAYER WARRIORS! ππ»π
On Tuesday, Sam was admitted to Childrenβs Nebraska with a fever. We soon discovered that he has a staph infection in his central line β for the 2nd time in just a few weeks. π
We were in the middle of waiting for negative blood cultures, IV antibiotics, making a plan for port removal and getting a new port placed when everything changed again.
On Wednesday evening, Sam started complaining of abdominal pain. Early Thursday morning, we shared our concerns with Samβs oncology team, and given how quickly his tumors have grown in the past, we all agreed that getting a CT was warranted.
Yesterday, late afternoon, we got the news we were desperately hoping we wouldnβt hear β his tumors have grown again, and one is now causing a bowel obstruction.
The decision was immediately made to transfer him to Nebraska Medicine, and a plan was put in place for surgery this morning to remove as much of the tumor as possible.
This will likely be another major surgery, and to be completely honest, we are scared, anxious, overwhelmed and just plain exhausted. This has been such a long, incredibly difficult journey for Sam, and for everyone who loves him. It feels like just when we catch our breath, we are thrown into another fight.
But Sam is still fighting. And we are still fighting right beside him. β€οΈβπ©Ή
Today, we are calling on all of our prayer warriors. ππ»ππ»ππ»
Please lift Sammy up in your prayers today. Pray for strength, comfort and peace for him as he faces another surgery. Pray for his amazing surgeon, Dr. Grant, and her entire team β for wisdom, steady hands and the best possible outcome. ππ»
And please pray for our family as we navigate yet another incredibly difficult day. We need every prayer, every positive thought and every ounce of strength you can send our way. β€οΈ
Please donβt stop fighting with us. Please donβt stop praying for our Sammy. πποΈπ
