RURAL HEALTH CARE WORKERS ARE REAL HEROS. Joshika Gurung Ramesh Gurung et. al
President's heli rescue program of Safe motherhood helps a lot.
Details:
A rural health worker tried to call at 1 am, yet there was no network coverage. After a couple of hours, we were successful in getting touch with each other. A mother, 40 years, multigravida, whose fetus has, now died inside the mother's womb, most likely due to hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, had a blood pressure of 240/130mm Hg at presentations. With oxygen saturation of 73% (with oxygen provided), it was difficult to get her vitals to normal. WE HAVE NO ACCESS TO ANY OTHER HYPERTENSIVES, except Amlodipine tablet and Frusemide. Managing her (like PE) with these two drugs, with Frusemide acting magically, to remove her chest crepitations, who was, also Probably in HELLP syndrome(unsure due to labs, but symptomatically, for sure) was a success for us till ARMY HELICOPTER ARRIVED TO RESCUE. The vitals were assuring than it was at presentation. The ER at Prasuti was informed, and the nurse on duty was kind, empathic and assured they will take care of her, and requested for early referral.She has made it to PRASUTI, Thapathali.
The bottom line:
RURAL HEALTH CARE WORKERS ARE REAL HEROS.
PRESIDENT'S HELI RESCUE PROGRAM IS A HUGE SUCCESS FOR REMOTE AREAS.
TELEMEDICINE WORKS.
STRENTHENING RURAL CAPACITY(SERVICE DELIVERY,MEDICATIONS,INFRASTRUTURES) IS A MUST.
Nepal's health care system always tries its best with available resources.
