About TEDx, x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.) About TED
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 25 years ago, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. The annual TED Conference invites the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes. Their talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Al Gore, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Isabel Allende and former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown. The annual TED Conference takes place each spring in Long Beach, California, along with the TEDActive simulcast in Palm Springs; the annual TEDGlobal conference is held each summer in Edinburgh, Scotland. TED’s media initiatives include TED.com, where new TEDTalks are posted daily, the recently launched TED-Ed platform for students and educators, the Open Translation Project, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as the ability for any TEDTalk to be translated by volunteers worldwide, and TEDBooks, short e-books by speakers that elaborate on a single idea originally presented on TED’s stage. TED has established the annual TED Prize, where exceptional individuals with a wish to change the world are given the opportunity to put their wishes into action; TEDx, which offers individuals or groups a way to host local, self-organized events around the world, and the TED Fellows program, helping world-changing innovators from around the globe to become part of the TED community and, with its help, amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities. The lights. The red circle. The stories. The ideas. And a room filled with curious minds ready to explore new perspectives.

What an unforgettable evening at TEDx Omaha 2026!

Friday night, our incredible 2026 speaker cohort took center stage at Creighton University's Heider College of Business, sharing powerful stories, personal experiences and thought-provoking ideas that challenged us to think differently, ask questions and see the world through new perspectives.

Months of planning, preparation, rehearsals and countless hours of hard work came together for an evening that reminded us why we do what we do.

To our speakers: Thank you for your courage, vulnerability and willingness to share your ideas with our community. Your dedication to this journey made the evening truly special.

To our volunteers, organizers, production crew and everyone working behind the scenes: Thank you for your time, talent and commitment to bringing this event to life. None of this would be possible without you!

And to our attendees, sponsors and community partners: Thank you for showing up, supporting our speakers and helping create an atmosphere of curiosity, connection and meaningful conversation.

📸 We're excited to share some of our favorite moments from Friday night's Main Event! Over the coming days, we'll be highlighting our speakers individually and sharing more photographs from the stage and behind the scenes.

While the lights have dimmed and the stage is quiet, the stories and ideas shared Friday night will continue to inspire conversations long after the event.

Thank you for making TEDx Omaha 2026 an incredible experience!

Who decided artists have to struggle to be successful?

TEDx speaker Paul Pape challenges the myth of the starving artist and explores why creativity, individuality, and knowing your worth matter more than ever in a world increasingly shaped by AI.

His message? The world doesn't need more of the ordinary. It needs more of what makes YOU different.

"Why didn't you just leave?"

It's a question domestic violence survivors hear far too often. But what if we've been asking the wrong question all along?

Drawing from her own experience, TEDx speaker Stephanie challenges us to rethink how we understand abuse, recognize control, and support survivors.

Sometimes changing one question can change everything.

What if changing a young person's future starts with something as simple as showing up?

TEDx speaker Matt Baker challenges traditional approaches to working with at-risk youth, sharing how trust, meaningful relationships, and believing in someone's potential can change lives.

Because sometimes the greatest difference we can make isn't through a program. It's through a person who refuses to give up.

Some wounds heal on the outside while remaining hidden for decades.

After surviving gun violence, Dr. Jonathan Benjamin-Alvarado spent more than 40 years carrying a story he couldn't bring himself to share.

Now, he's breaking his silence to challenge how we support survivors, confront trauma, and turn painful experiences into meaningful change.

🎤 What does it really mean to find home?

For some, home is a place. For others, it's a memory, a melody, or a feeling of belonging.

TEDxOmaha speakers Darci Gamerl, David Downing, and David Joel Thomas take the stage to explore the powerful connections between music, memory, migration, and identity.

Through their unique stories, they remind us that home isn't always where we come from. Sometimes, it's what we carry with us.

A college degree tells employers what you've learned. But does it show them what you can actually DO?

In this thought-provoking TEDx talk, Dr. Schreck challenges the way we prepare young adults for the workforce and explores why real-world experience, critical thinking, and learning through failure are essential to success.

Because knowing the right answer and knowing what to do with it are two very different things.

When your child is diagnosed with an incurable genetic disorder, how do you learn to see beyond the fear of what their future might hold?

For 23 years, TEDx speaker and artist Rachel Mindrup has navigated the challenges of raising a son with neurofibromatosis.

Through motherhood, art, and advocacy, she discovered a powerful lesson: Our children are so much more than their diagnoses, and their possibilities deserve to be celebrated.
