What happens when you pour into your community?

A summer full of fun, connection, and moments that matter takes neighbors, friends, and helping hands coming together to make it happen.

Volunteering may feel like showing up for a few hours. But the impact goes much further than that.

The table you helped set up? It made space for a neighbor to pick up fresh groceries for their family.

The water you handed out with a smile? Someone really needed that kindness today, and they passed it on.

Our neighborhood is stronger when each of us pours a little of ourselves into it. And somewhere along the way, we begin to feel that care pour back into us too.

Come pour into your community, find your people, and be part of what is growing at Highlander this summer.

Yesterday, Highlander welcomed U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Scott Turner, Governor Jim Pillen, Mayor John W. Ewing, Jr., and partners from across Omaha to North Omaha.

We are grateful that Highlander Omaha was part of their visit and proud to share the story of a neighborhood shaped by people, place, and partnership. This moment reflects the growing recognition of what is possible when public, private, and community partners continue investing in neighborhoods with intention.

Thank you to the neighbors, partners, and community members who continue showing up for Highlander, carrying this work forward, and helping shape what comes next.

We are grateful to share that Seventy Five North has received support through Mayor John Ewing, Jr.’s Mayor’s Grant initiative!

Through this initiative, meaningful investment is reaching communities across Omaha and helping create impact that lasts.

This grant will support this year’s Highlander Community Day, helping us continue preparing for a celebration rooted in neighborhood pride, progress, and connection.

Thank you, Mayor John W. Ewing, Jr., for investing in community-centered events that bring neighbors, partners, and families together.

We look forward to celebrating with you at Highlander Community Day!

There is always something happening at Highlander, but Community Day is where it all comes to life.

This summer, we are looking for volunteers to help make the 8th Annual Highlander Community Day possible. Between line dancing, family activities, food, music, and celebration, this day takes many helping hands to bring it all together.

If you are interested in supporting the energy, joy, and momentum of Highlander as we celebrate the people, places, and partnerships that make it special, we would love to have you on the team!

Teachers are at the heart of what makes communities like Highlander strong.

They are more than educators. They are trusted partners, steady connectors, and some of the first people to recognize what children and families need to thrive.

They help us understand where needs are emerging, share information with families, and work alongside us to design solutions that support students both inside and outside the classroom.

In so many quiet and meaningful ways, teachers help weave the invisible infrastructure that holds a community together.

This Teacher Appreciation Week, we are grateful for the teachers who continue to show up for our kids, our families, and the future we are building together.

Thank you. 💛

There is something powerful about choosing to show up for your community, and people like Shelina remind us what that truly looks like.

Shelina has been a consistent presence at Highlander Community Day, bringing her time, energy, and heart to every moment of service.

“Volunteering is a way I give back to the community I live in and serve. I love volunteering with Seventy-Five North because they are doing the work necessary to make sustainable changes for all, and as I drive through the area, I can see work completed and in progress. Being born and raised here in North Omaha, I lived in the housing projects as a kid, and to see the apartments and other housing that have been developed is a full-circle moment for me. I am happy to see the new development they are providing for all residents. Attending the annual Community Day and volunteering to celebrate the residents each year has been an honor. Everyone always has a great time and enjoys good food and entertainment. Seeing the smiles and thank you’s brings joy to my heart.” -Shelina Williams

Because of volunteers like Shelina, community events become more than gatherings; they become moments of pride, connection, and visible progress.

Join us in thanking Shelina and be part of what’s growing. Take part in Do Good Days and help continue building a stronger neighborhood. Visit our Share Omaha page to explore upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and ways to get involved.

There’s never enough appreciation for the people who choose to show up and serve their community.

This Do Good Days, we’re shining a light on Emily Gigax. Emily plays an important role in helping Seventy Five North Revitalization Corp continue to grow and thrive.

“I chose to volunteer because the community is welcoming, fun, supportive, and uplifting. Every time I walk through the doors, I can feel the positive impact they’re creating.”

It’s because of volunteers like Emily that real community impact happens.

Join us in thanking Emily and take part in Do Good Days as we continue building a stronger neighborhood together.
