Banister's Leadership Academy Strengthening youth and families through leadership. Banisters Leadership Academy’s mission is to strengthen youth and their families through leadership.

Banister’s Leadership Academy will dedicate time, energy, and resources to disadvantaged youth so they may have the same opportunities as others. Our purpose is to provide motivation, mentoring, tutoring, and leadership skills to all youth. Our focus is to design an academy where they are able to learn social, life, and leadership skills that they may use in their school life, in their home life, and in other areas of life where they will need to overcome adversities.

RaeLynn Tinnell received Mentee of the Night for Scottsbluff on 8/29. She met all expectations and was a great role model for showing respect. She was very respectful the entire night, asking if she could help, always ready for each activity, and encouraging the other mentees to fully participate. Last week at Hamilton County programming we did our pillar of courage. Our mentees played board games, did charades and read a book called "be brave little penguin". Our group also made a courage chain that each mentee wrote down an act of courage that they have used recently.

Our program serves Kindergarten through 6th-grade students and provides:
✅ No-cost programming for families
✅ Academic support and homework assistance
✅ Fun, engaging, and enriching activities
✅ A safe and supportive environment where youth can thrive

Turning Storms into Strength: Scotts Bluff County Mentees Showed Amazing Courage! ⛈️

Our Scotts Bluff County mentees started the evening with an intense storm filled with high winds, heavy rain, lightning, and thunder. The power fluctuations even caused the school's emergency doors to slam shut, which was especially challenging for some mentees who are afraid of storms. Together, we supported one another and worked through those fears as a team, this enforced our pillar of courage.

After the storm passed, the fun began as mentees splashed and played in the puddles left behind! 🌧️💦

The Elevated mentees participated in a Bravery Challenge, completing courageous and silly tasks like doing 30 jumping jacks, waddling and quacking like a duck around the circle, and giving hugs and high-fives.

Our younger mentees enjoyed Have You Filled a Bucket Today? with Ms. Silva before completing a Courage Quest that included roaring like lions, sharing kind words, and making silly faces. 🦁✨

A special thank you to Domino's Pizza for donating pizza for dinner! 🍕 Your generosity helped make a wonderful evening possible.

🛡️⚔️ Courage was on full display in Box Butte County last week!

Our mentees spent Thursday creating their own Courage Badges, designing shields that represented what helps them when they feel scared. Some drew deep breathing techniques, while others highlighted the important role family plays in helping them through tough moments. Their swords symbolized the tools they use to conquer fear, from listening to music to giving themselves positive pep talks.

The fun continued with Superhero Charades, and one standout moment came when one mentee amazed everyone by being the first and only mentee to correctly guess Black Panther was being acted out!
