We had the unique privilege of having the RNS (Religious News Service) write a wonderful article on us last week in commemoration of our 20th Anniversary Festival!

Thank you, RNS, for highlighting the compassion and understanding of the Tri-Faith Commons.

If you haven't given it a read, we've linked it below!

(RNS) — ‘The challenge is the actual work, the actual relationship, navigating these geopolitical pieces, without having to lose hope,’ said Karim Khayati, the president of the mosque on campus.

Renowned artist Siona Benjamin will be joining us at the Tri-Faith 20th Anniversary Festival for some guided art activities!

We welcomed Siona as one of our keynote speakers during the Race, Religion, and Social Justice Conference earlier this summer, and loved her work so much that we just had to bring her back for the festival!

Siona Benjamin is a painter originally from Bombay, now living in the US. Her work reflects her background of being brought up Jewish in a predominantly Hindu and Muslim India. In her paintings she combines the imagery of her past with the role she plays in America today, making a mosaic inspired by both Indian miniature paintings and illuminated manuscripts.

She was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship in 2010-11 for art project titled: Faces: Weaving Indian Jewish Narratives. The first exhibit for the India Fulbright was in 2013 at the Prince of Wales museum in Mumbai and several others followed. Siona received a second Fulbright fellowship in 2016-17 to Israel and her project is titled - From Motherland to Fatherland: Transcultural Indian Jews in Israel.

She’ll be guiding two art activities: Chalk The Block and Superhero Mask-making! Whether you’re a novice artist or a medium-mixing master, each activity will offer you the chance to flex your creative muscles and create something extraordinary.

Be sure to come early, as supplies are limited!

Remember to mark your calendars for August 30, 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., to meet us at the Tri-Faith Center for food, fun, and friendship-building!
