Books, Blankets, Volunteers, and Support:
An Omega Chapter Project with Franklin Elementary School
We are pleased to announce that Omega Chapter was awarded an Esther Pilster Chapter Award ($500) to work with Franklin Elementary School in the Omaha Public School District to provide books, blankets, volunteers, and support to the school during the fall semester of 2023. The Special Projects Committee met in February to put together the grant proposal. We worked in collaboration with our chapter co-presidents, Jeanne Stark and Jonie Williams to identify project components and school location. Once we received news of funding, we met to identify priorities and project leadership.
Members of the Omega Chapter Special Project Committee are Linda Heath, Becky Nichol, Pam Norlen, Amy Carlson, and Susan McWilliams. All helped with the grant proposal process and Linda, Becky, and Pam are leading various focus areas of the project toward a fall 2023 implementation. We are working with the school principal, Dr. Christina Warner, who is very supportive of our project and who will serve as our keynote speaker at the 2023 December Brunch.
Special Project Committee members will provide and overview of the project and information about how to get involved at upcoming April and June Omega Chapter meetings. We encourage all Omega sisters to consider engaging in the chapter project with Franklin Elementary School. We greatly appreciate the award from the Esther Pilster Endowment Fund, making this project possible.
