This Saturday, explore the vibrant world of Indigenous art and color.

Join artist and Sicangu Lakota member Steve Tamayo for Ojuha: Indigenous Connection to COLOR—an engaging workshop uncovering the history, meaning, and craftsmanship behind Native American rawhide containers and the natural pigments used to paint them.

For centuries, Plains, Plateau, and Basin tribes created these vessels to carry everything from food and medicines to spiritual objects—each painted design rich with cultural meaning, storytelling, and tribal identity.

Looking for an unforgettable way to kick off summer?

Starting June 15th, young explorers will spend five days discovering Nebraska’s natural world through hands-on activities, wildlife encounters, art projects, birdwatching, nature poetry, camping challenges, and more — all in partnership with The Nature Conservancy!

From meeting owls, raptors, and forest critters to creating nature-inspired artwork and learning from conservationists, educators, and artists, every day brings a new adventure.

June 15–19 | Grades 4 - 8

Spots are still available! Register now and join us for a week of creativity, curiosity, and connection to the outdoors.

Come see the groundbreaking exhibition that’s had everyone talking. Tomorrow is the last day to see Under the Skin at KANEKO! From the collections of the Duncans and LeBarons, this show was curated as an exploration of the human body and the human experience.

The upstairs gallery will be closed today for a private event. Due to that and our wanting to welcome anyone who wants to see UTS before its too late, admission will be half the price!

Today, Polina Gardens opens its gates and we couldn’t be more excited to witness this moment alongside the Omaha community.

We’ve had the rare privilege of watching this beautiful space come to life, piece by piece. From the earliest plantings to the pathways taking shape, it’s been a joy to see Lauritzen Gardens grow into something even more extraordinary. Polina Gardens is a stunning testament to what a community can cultivate together — a living, breathing work of art that will inspire visitors for generations to come.

Gardens and art have always shared the same spirit: the patience to tend something over time, and the wonder of seeing it bloom. That’s a feeling we know well at KANEKO, and it’s one we’re so glad to share with our neighbors at Lauritzen.

If you’re exploring the garden this weekend, keep the creative energy going and drop by KANEKO and let our current exhibitions be the next thing that moves you.

Unlike Maudie, Dallas doesn’t do “subtle.”

One walk through Under the Skin and he was pulling us back toward the gallery for another look. Tail wagging, ears perked, and energy levels somehow even higher than when he arrived.

We can’t say exactly what caught his attention, but he seemed pretty captivated by an exhibition that explores the stories, emotions, and experiences carried beneath the surface.

Dog-approved. Human-approved. Under the Skin is on view through June 7.

Come see what has Dallas so excited.

Even Maudie cracked a smile.

Known around KANEKO for her mopey disposition and signature three-legged strut, Maudie took a stroll through Under the Skin and, against all odds, appeared… emotionally moved?

Maybe it’s because Under the Skin goes beyond appearances and reveals the vulnerability, tension, intimacy, and humanity carried within every body. The exhibition invites viewers to confront the stories etched beneath the surface.

Maudie gives it 4 paws up, despite only having her 3 to raise!

Be sure to check out Under the Skin before it leaves! Open through June 7th.
