A Jun Kaneko original could be going home with someone at Soirée. 🎁

Tomorrow evening, October 16, we’ll gather in the Bowtruss at 8 p.m. for a few words of appreciation from our Honorary Chairs, Heather and Grant Matthies. Then, they’ll draw a name from our list of ticket holders and award one lucky patron a Wall Slab by Jun Kaneko; a very special 2026 Soirée gift.

Thank you for joining us for what promises to be a wonderful evening. Someone will leave with a remarkable piece of art. It could be you.

Tickets available at www.thekaneko.org

🎉KANEKO is thrilled to introduce our new Development Director, Chad Allen!🎉

Here’s a little bit about Chad:

Chad Allen is a colorblind arts enthusiast, storyteller, and lifelong maker whose professional and personal paths have always led him to places where art, community, and a little bit of the unexpected intersect.

With more than a decade of experience supporting cultural organizations, Chad has championed creative spaces and the people who bring them to life, including Rochester Arts Center, Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center, Film Streams, and the Omaha Community Foundation.

Chad is also a fourth-generation ceramicist, muralist, illustrator, author, coffee fiend, and haphazard humorist fueled by play and an endless creative drive. When he’s not immersed in an artistic pursuit, Chad and his husband, Emilio, can be found exploring the Midwest in search of overnight stays in homes designed by Frank Lloyd Wright—or at their Dundee flat, where they’re happily entertained by their cats, Nikita Khrushchev and John Fitzgerald Kennedy. 🐈☕🎨

We’re so excited to have you with us, Chad! Welcome to KANEKO! 🎉

Final weekend! 🎊Last chance to see Colecciones de Estudio de Invierno.

This is it; tomorrow, Sunday, September 27th, is the last day for Therman Statom’s exhibition Colecciones de Estudio de Invierno at KANEKO.

The Omaha-based sculptor and glass artist draws on decades of studio practice in this gathered body of work—cut, assembled, and painted glass forms ranging from life-size chairs and ladders to intimate wall-mounted pieces. A pioneer of the contemporary glass movement, Statom layers sandblasted surfaces with vivid color and line, weaving in blown-glass elements and found objects for work that’s both structural and painterly.

It’s a body of work that treats glass not as precious, but as living—restless, layered, and full of a lifetime’s worth of experimentation.

📅 Last day: Sunday, September 27
