DBSA Omaha

DBSA Omaha We do this through lively discussion, heartfelt sharing times, with frequent laughter and sometimes tears. See a list of upcoming events on our Events page.

Our Omaha chapter of DBSA provides peer support for people living with depression, bipolar disorder, or another mood disorder, as well as their family and friends. We’re here to help through good times and bad, your issues and concerns, with camaraderie and compassion. While we meet at Morning Star Lutheran Church, we are a not a faith based group. Our topics and discussions are based in our life

experiences. Come join us for our weekly gathering, Thursdays from 7-9 PM. Our first hour is usually a discussion topic, guest speaker or activity. Our second hour is a sharing hour, where we break into smaller groups, and you get to discuss what is going on in your life with a group of peers. New members are always welcome, just show up 🙂 The first trip in from the parking lot can be the hardest part – come on in, we’re friendly, and we’ll be proud of you for making it!

💜September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month 💚

September is a time to raise awareness, start conversations, and remind one another that you are never a burden and you are never alone.

Su***de prevention starts with connection. Sometimes the most important thing we can do is simply ask, “How are you really doing?” and take the time to listen without judgment.

If you’re struggling right now, please know that you don’t have to face it alone. Reach out to someone you trust, connect with a support group, or call/text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

💛 Your life matters. Your story matters. You matter.

Let’s use this month to check in on the people we love, break the silence around su***de, and remind each other that there is hope, even when it doesn’t feel that way.

💭 Overthinking can make our thoughts feel like facts but they aren’t always true.

Take a moment today and choose one affirmation that speaks to you.

Mine is:
💜 “I don’t have to engage every thought that enters my mind.”

Which one do you need to hear today?

And if your mind has been especially heavy lately, remember you don’t have to carry it alone. Our FREE DBSA Omaha peer support group meets every Thursday at 7 PM, and we’d love to have you join us. 💙

🌿 When life feels overwhelming, focus on what’s within your control.

We can’t control other people, the past, or every situation that comes our way.

But we can control how we care for ourselves, how we respond, and the choices we make today.

What’s one thing you can control right now? 💙

💙 Let’s celebrate the little wins today.

We spend so much time focusing on what we haven’t done that we forget to recognize how far we’ve come.

Finish this sentence:
“I’m proud of me because…”

Your reason doesn’t have to be big. Sometimes getting out of bed, asking for help, or simply making it through the day is worth celebrating. 💙

Share yours in the comments if you’d like!

🧠 Big emotions don’t always require big solutions.

Sometimes one small step is enough:
✨ Name your emotion.
✨ Practice mindfulness.
✨ Challenge an unhelpful thought.
✨ Write yourself a kind note.
✨ Find one thing you’re grateful for.

Healing isn’t about being perfect it’s about showing up for yourself, one step at a time. 💙

💙 Sometimes the most healing words aren’t, “Just stay positive.”

When someone is struggling, they often don’t need advice they need to feel heard. Validation, empathy, and simply being present can make all the difference.

Which phrase on the right has helped you the most?
