What started out as a good deed from some friends wanting to help raise funds to buy their friend Leslie a lift chair for use after her breast surgery, is growing and blossoming! Here’s the story:
“Leslie is my friend that lives in Lincoln. Her friends raised money so she could buy the chair and she promised she would pass it on to another woman when she recovered. It just happened that I had my
surgery coming up right after her recovery So she told me to do the same - pass it on afterward. I saw in the group that Jen had an upcoming surgery so I offered it to her. She didn't know anyone that needed it after her so she brought the chair back to my house. Once it returned and I saw other Pink members talking about upcoming surgeries I thought it would be a good idea to keep it in the group. Leslie thought that was a great idea, too, so she "officially" donated the chair to the group.”--SuzyT
As of today, Leslie’s Chair has since been passed on and used to other ladies in our Bright Pink/Hereditary Cancer Foundation Group, 7 times!! Because this is such a great way to help others who are going through breast surgeries, either due to cancer or preventative measures, 3 additional chairs have been DONATED to our project from other ladies in our group! Additionally, the Hereditary Cancer Foundation has purchased another chair for use. Our current chair count is at 5 and we have helped 17 people in our group! Suzy has been spearheading this project until a few weeks back. Katie O, Heather M, and Sarah V are taking this project on to help expand and help other members of our group and our community recover from breast surgeries! The goal of the new team spearheading this project, is to fundraise to purchase more chairs and to help more people recover comfortably.
