As we wrap up the year, we’re pausing to reflect on the partnerships, conversations, and community that made this work so meaningful. We’re deeply grateful for the trust, care, and collaboration you’ve shared with us along the way!

From the entire POC Collaborative team, we wish you a peaceful and restorative holiday season ✨ however you choose to celebrate.

Thank you for being part of this work with us — we’re looking ahead to 2026 with hope, momentum, and appreciation for all that’s still to come.

On December 2, we gathered to celebrate the Winter 2025 Ignite Community Business Academy (ICBA) graduates — and the room was full of pride, joy, and possibility 🎓✨

This celebration honored both our English and Spanish cohorts, recognizing 20+ local entrepreneurs who completed a 12-week journey to build, strengthen, and grow their businesses right here in Omaha.

These graduates represent the creativity, courage, and community impact that power Omaha’s small business ecosystem, and we couldn’t be more proud to celebrate alongside them.

Join us in extending a HUGE thank you to our partners who helped make this cohort and celebration possible: Heartland Workers Center, Heart Ministry Center, and Rising Tide Capital. Your continued support helps ensure entrepreneurs from historically underrepresented communities have access to education, resources, and opportunity.

A few weeks ago (just before the first snowfall in Omaha!), we completed several important milestones at Calvin Memorial Presbyterian Church (CMPC).

These photos may not capture the full scope of the work, but they highlight meaningful progress in the ongoing renovation of a building that will serve as a long-term community asset.

Recent updates include:
🔨 Installation of a new skylight to bring natural light into the space
🔨 Full roof replacement to make sure the building is water-tight
🔨 Weatherproofing upgrades to protect the structure moving forward

These updates are a key step in preserving the building and preparing CMPC for its next chapter as a space for community, collaboration, and opportunity.

Last Saturday, we popped up at Christmas in the Village on 24th & Lake, hosted by the Empowerment Network, handing out hot chocolate on an incredibly cold day — and somehow the community still showed up with warmth to spare!

We loved meeting so many neighbors, families, and friends. Thank you for making the day feel so special. ❄️☕

It’s ! A day that reminds us how powerful community can be when we invest in it together.

Earlier this week, POC Collaborative met with Mayor Ewing for a thoughtful and energizing conversation about the future of Omaha’s cultural and economic landscape.

Together, we explored opportunities to activate cultural hubs across the city, strengthen placemaking efforts, and support both nonprofit and for-profit programming in ways that reflect the diversity, talent, and economic potential of our communities.

We’re grateful for Mayor Ewing’s time and partnership, and we’re energized by the shared commitment to building a more unified and equitable Omaha!

We’re in the final stretch of the ICBA Spanish cohort, and we couldn’t be more proud! 🎉

Over the last several weeks, this group of entrepreneurs has shown up with so much heart — strengthening their operations, sharpening their marketing, building confidence in their financials, and laying the groundwork for sustainable growth.

This program, offered in partnership with Heartland Workers Center, supports established entrepreneurs who need guidance in scaling their businesses and expanding their reach. And this cohort has truly put in the work.

We can’t wait to celebrate their achievements at the Winter 2025 ICBA Graduation on December 2.

Week 8 milestone complete!

Our Ignite Community Business Academy (ICBA) Spanish cohort, in partnership with Heartland Workers Center, successfully completed their business simulations — an interactive, hands-on experience designed to put strategy into action.

Through this 12-week program, participants explore sustainable growth, streamlined operations, and marketing strategies while receiving tailored support to better understand and leverage their business financials — one of the toughest yet most rewarding parts of entrepreneurship.

We’re so proud of this incredible group of entrepreneurs for bringing dedication, collaboration, and creativity to every session! 👏

From September 23–24, we gathered a small (but mighty!) crew at United Way of the Midlands in Millwork Commons for Diversity in Development: Purposeful Boards, Powerful Fundraising.

The group may have been intimate, but that meant every voice mattered — and the conversations went deep! Together we explored how to keep purpose at the center of board work and how fundraising can feel less like a task and more like an opportunity.

Diversity in Development is built for people of the Global Majority working in nonprofit and philanthropic development. It’s a space to build skills, share experiences, and connect with a powerful network of peers while learning from The Fund Raising School and trainers at IU’s Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.

If that sounds like something for you, we’d love to have you at a future session. ➡️ Learn more here: https://www.poccollaborative.org/purposeful-boards-powerful-fundraising
