The Omaha Freedom Festival is a family-friendly event expanding the NAACP Juneteenth Parade to an all day festival; providing education, entertainment & access to local resources.

Last night reminded me why I do what I do. ❤️
I had the honor of supporting someone I truly appreciate, my friend and mentor, Tahnne Markussen, at the Youth Emergency Services (YES) Dance for a Chance event.

Tahnne has quietly believed in me and supported our work at Freedomtainment Omaha, and I'll never take that for granted. Hearing her share her story last night touched my heart and helped me understand why helping others means so much to her.

Sometimes the people who give the most to others know exactly what it feels like to need someone themselves. ❤️
I don't get out much, but I'm so thankful I showed up. It reminded me that everyone has a story, everyone carries something we can't see, and sometimes all a person needs is someone who cares.

Tahnne, thank you for your friendship, your heart, and for reminding me why this work matters. You and YES will always have my support.

Because sometimes the greatest difference we make in someone's life is simply being there when they need us most. ❤️🙏🏾

There are moments when “Thank You” just doesn’t feel big enough. Being recognized by the Empowerment Network for the work I do through Freedomtainment Omaha touched me deeper than I can explain, because this was never just about events, concerts, job fairs, or crowds.

It has always been about people. The mother praying for an opportunity to provide for her children. The person asking life for one more chance. The family trying to make tomorrow better than today. The young person who just needs someone to look at them and say, “I believe in you. ”Somewhere along this journey, I realized that my purpose was never just to put on events. My purpose was to open doors. And I didn’t find that purpose alone.

To Willie Barney, Tim Clark, Thomas Warren , Ernest White, Michael Maroney, MJ , Racquel Henderson and Vicki Quaites-Ferris, and every mentor, community leader, partner, sponsor, volunteer, friend, and person who believed in me when I was still trying to understand what my was purpose was—thank you.

What you poured into me, I promise to keep pouring into somebody else. And to North Omaha—you have my heart. You believed in me. You showed up for me. You trusted me. You reminded me that our community doesn’t need to be saved. It needs to be seen, believed in, invested in, and given the opportunities it deserves.

This recognition may have my name on it, but the recognition belongs to the Freedomtainment team Lead by Michelle "MJ" Jones and consist of Tim anderson, Shannon Jackson, Virgil Haskin And Mrs. Karen Davis. Every late night was worth it. Every closed door was worth it. Every sacrifice was worth it. Because if one person gets a job…if one family finds stability…if one young person starts believing in their future again…then we did something that matters.

I hope that one day someone we helped will say: “Someone opened a door for me when I needed it most. ”And then they’ll turn around and open that door for somebody else. That’s the legacy I want. Not applause. Not recognition.

Changed lives. Changed families. Changed futures. North Omaha, thank you for helping me find my purpose. I love you. I appreciate you. And as long as God gives me the strength, I will keep showing up for you. One person. One family. One opportunity at a time. ❤️

To everybody in Omaha who continues to support this band, just know you are watching something special grow right in front of us.
I’m grateful to be out here as road manager, watching the work, the growth and the professionalism go to another level every trip.

Load in. Soundcheck. Showtime. Pack up. Get back on the road. Argue about where we eating. 😂 Get a little sleep and do it all over again.
And somehow we did three sold-out shows on a birthday weekend like this was regular s**t. 😂

Big shoutout to my partner and driver Tim anderson for getting us from city to city safely, and the GOAT Bankster 1 for capturing the history while we’re living it.

I’m proud of Enjoli & Timeless.
This ain’t luck.
It’s work.

To everyone who came out to Level Up — thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Nearly 5,000 people came through in the heat to meet employers, connect with resources, share a meal, and look for a better opportunity. You did more than attend an event. You gave Level Up meaning. You reminded us why this work matters.

Level Up started five years ago during COVID because Freedomtainment Omaha believed people in North Omaha and Douglas County deserved access to jobs, resources, opportunity, and hope. That mission is still alive because you keep showing up.

And while people may see me in front, there is a team behind the scenes that carries this event on their shoulders: MJ Jones, Racquel Henderson, Kellan Barbershop, Briania Jones, Kevin Mitchell, Shanon Jackson, Virgil Haskin ,Karen Davis, Shelby Penkins, Tim Anderson, Duke Riggs of Ozone Productions, Lisa Breckenridge, and Ed Breckenridge. Thank you for the calls nobody hears, the problems nobody sees, the long days, the stress, the sacrifices, and the love you pour into this community.

Level Up is not one person. It is the people who attend, the people who serve, and the people behind the scenes who refuse to stop believing that one connection can change a life.

If you met an employer, found a resource, made a connection, received a job lead, or something happened Saturday that helped your family, please DM us and tell us your story. And if we need to do something better, tell us that too. We want to listen, learn, and make Level Up stronger.

Freedomtainment Omaha is proud to have collaborated with Je Dunn Construction and Google to help donate $80,000 in Milwaukee tools to support Omaha Public Schools career and trades programs.

This investment will help students at Benson High School, Bryan High School, South High School, and the Career Center gain hands-on experience, build real-world skills, and prepare for careers in construction and the skilled trades.

We want to thank the Barrientos Scholarship Foundation, Google, Je Dunn Construction, Blue Hat, Stan Houston, Milwaukee Tool, Heartland Workforce Solutions, and Omaha Public Schools for helping make this possible.

This is exactly what Level Up is about: bringing businesses, schools, workforce organizations, and nonprofits together to create real opportunities for young people and families in our community.

Freedomtainment Omaha is proud to congratulate Tinice Jones, the recipient of this year’s Level Up Community Impact Vehicle! 🎉

A huge thank you to Andre Rash and Humble Auto Solutions for partnering with Freedomtainment Omaha and taking the time to find a safe, reliable vehicle for Tinice and her family. This giveaway was about more than giving away a car—it was about helping remove a transportation barrier and giving a family another opportunity to move forward.

We also want to sincerely thank everyone who submitted a letter or email. We received so many powerful stories, and choosing a recipient was not easy.@

Special thanks to MJ Jones and Racquel Henderson for reviewing the submissions and helping select the finalists. They had an extremely difficult decision to make, and we appreciate the time, care and compassion they put into helping us find the right candidate.
