On May 5th, bring your Cub Scouts and join Troop 383 for a fun hands-on night where we will build a simple catapult, launch a few projectiles, and get a feel for our troop. And since it will be Cinco De Mayo, we will celebrate with walking tacos.

What a great day for Scouting for Food. We had 5 Scouts come out to help collect nearly 800 food donations. Only 3 were in the picture, but all 5 gave their time and effort to make a difference.

Congrats Mike!!!

Mike's Scouting journey began early, starting as a first grader in Aurora with his mom serving as his Den Leader in the Overland Trails Council. That early introduction to Scouting planted seeds that would grow into a lifetime of service and leadership.

Years later, when his sons joined Pack 380, Mike stepped up once again when the unit needed leadership. He continued to follow and support his sons as they advanced into Troop 383, deepening his involvement and impact along the way. With an encouraging nudge from Phil Rossbach, Mike joined the Eagle Board of Review Team, a decision that helped shape the path he walks today.

Mike currently serves as the Eagle Chair for both the Iron Horse and Black Hawk Districts. In this role, he has not only guided hundreds of Scouts through their Eagle Boards of Review and project approvals, but also helped train and mentor leaders in other districts. His dedication has ensured that the Eagle Scout process remains meaningful, consistent, and supportive for countless youth.

Through his steady leadership and commitment to excellence, Mike has played a key role in helping hundreds of Scouts achieve Scouting’s highest rank. His lasting impact on the program makes him a truly deserving recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. 🦫🏅

In addition to the meal we had last week, we also held Court Of Honor. Several scouts earned merit badges, and we have 2 new Life Scouts, so hopefully that means a lot of Eagle Projects in our troop next Spring! We also had one of our adult leaders complete his Woodbadge, and he was also recognized during our court of honor! Congrats scouts and Mr. Meyer on all your achievements!

Last weekend, our Troop held our annual Campsgiving feast. This event held every year as a way to celebrate the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday with scouts, leaders, parents, families, and a chance to invite younger scouts to join our table and find out about our troop. The scouts prepare the side dishes a desserts while the leaders and parents often handle the turkey and ham. This year we have several fried turkeys and bacon wrapped roasted turkeys, 3 different types of mac & cheese, cornbread corn casserole, creamed corn, cornbread stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, fresh cranberry jelly and a large variety of sweet desserts! It was another successful year and the menu gets better every year!
