A friend and street kitchen regular has hit a rough patch and needs help to make rent! He's an incredible organizer who has done so much for street kitchen since our move to Walnut Hill last November, including welcoming us to the new neighborhood and helping us build a strong relationship with the community.
We're hoping to help him stay on his feet by raising $1,000. If you want to help, Venmo us at or donate via our CashApp at $OmahaAutonomous. Please put "Organizer" in the description!

One of our longtime members needs our support! Addison is a passionate ally who has given so much of her time and resources to the community over the years. It would be amazing if we could give back and help her with costs as she fights cancer. Thank you for your support, whether you took the time to read, share, or donate. It all makes a difference!

First of all we want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who's donated their time, supplies, or funds in the last week. It's greatly appreciated and we're on track to continue our normal request schedule! Without our community we wouldn't be able to do what we do.

It's finally fall! It's been about a month since our last distro update, and we wanted to share what we've been up to! As always, we’ve had a busy few weeks. We had a delicious veggie stew with corn bread, pizza, chicken and rice bowls, pumpkin curry soup and tacos! As well as plenty of snacks and hygiene supplies.

Every week we see more new faces, and as assistance programs continue to be cut and prices go up, we don't expect that to change anytime soon. We know the small area of town we’re able to work in isn’t the only place where people are struggling, and we want to remind folks that what we do doesn't have to be unique. Help make your neighbors a meal, pass off some supplies, cash, or just chat with those in your community and learn how we can all support each other.

Hoping everyone is staying safe and warm!

If you have any extra time, or supplies, reach out to us!
As always, any extra funds are also greatly appreciated

Hi, we need your help.

One of the things that sets OAA apart from many other mutual aid projects is our request process. It's something that we believe in very strongly, as it gives some of our most disenfranchised neighbors agency and autonomy. They're not just choosing from (appreciated and very helpful) donations, but instead telling us exactly what they need and getting it.

Unfortunately, because both the number of people requesting things and prices have gone up, it's becoming financially untenable to maintain. Three years ago, we were able to buy requests every week, and get 3 needs and 3 wants for folks. Today, we've had to scale back to a limit of two items per person every other week. Even with that change, our last several request shops have each been more than our monthly Patreon payout. At this rate, we can't afford to keep requests going.

Swipe through to see some pics of a typical request week. If you've got the means, and it seems like a project you'd like to support, you can join our Patreon or send us a donation on Venmo or Cashapp. We know times are hard for everyone and only getting harder so anything you can spare is deeply appreciated.

Pictured below:

Slide 2: An image of a hand written shopping list of typical requests (camping, cleaning, and hygiene supplies, clothes, and various other items) mostly crossed out.

Slide 3: A collage of receipts from Walmart, Thriftworld, Scheels, and Ace Hardware.

Slide 4: An image of this week's requests laid out in a driveway.

Slide 5: An image of this week's requests sorted for their recipients and mostly loaded into the back of a car. Several requests, tents and cat supplies, don't fit in the trunk and are instead sitting on the ground.

We’ve been busy at Street Kitchen this summer! Here's a lil recap of the last couple months:

July was HOT. In addition to our usual supplies at kitchen, a few members went around the community to distribute water and electrolytes to folks who needed it. We ended July with a hotdog grill-out, turkey sandwiches, homemade meatloaf and plenty of snacks and veg from folks' gardens. In August, we had enchilada casserole, a ton of salad, chicken salad sandwiches, and pizza.

Huge thank you to the people and orgs that helped us out with our July hygiene supply drive, especially for running a supply drive for us! This is what we collected from the drive:

35 shampoos / conditioners
30 lotions
6 deodorants
50 soaps
20 toothbrushes
11 toothpastes
4 flosses
2 packs of wipes
2 boxes q tips (500 count)
20 tampons
100 pads
10 hand/ face collagen masks
8 razors

Also, shout out to the people who brought us extra food and supplies at Street Kitchen. Small and travel size toiletries are a great resource that’s always much appreciated and welcome year-round. If you'd like to help out, just send us a message!

Although we work hard to get people the basic supplies they need to make life a little easier, conditions are getting worse for folks. Police and business owners alike continue to harass our neighbors, forcing people to constantly relocate. As a result, our neighbors lose valuable possessions. Tents, sleeping bags, clothing and hygiene supplies need constant replacing.
People deserve to feel safe and secure where they're staying, and not at constant risk of upheaval.

Please be kind to your neighbors, look out for each other, and stay safe.

Hey yall, a member of our community needs our help! After a sudden death in her family, on top of taking care of her three kids and everything else life throws at her, she's fallen behind on her OPPD payments. In total she owes just over $500, but has the opportunity to pay $220 of it by tomorrow to avoid her power being shut off.
She's been a regular at Street Kitchen for over a year now, and is constantly going out of her way to look out for everyone around her. Let's do the same for her!
If you have any spare cash, you can Venmo us at or Cashapp us at $OmahaAutonomous. Please put OPPD in the description!

OAA had the pleasure of meeting with Urban Abbey’s youth group for a second time recently. We had great conversations about the spectrum from charity to mutual aid, heard some absolutely inspired ideas for mutual aid projects, and put together at least 30 care packages, each featuring incredible notes and drawings from the youth group!

We are so honored for the opportunity to work with these incredible kids again, and so grateful to for their continued partnership. If you’d like to help us continue to make care packages and support our neighbors, you can drop off hygiene supplies at Urban Abbey.

Despite the heat, the past two weeks have been busy! We got to share smoked chicken, a few different salads, and plenty of snacks and sides with our neighbors.

As we get deeper into summer, preventing heat illness is more important than ever. Every week we provide water, cool rags, ice and other essentials to those who stop by Street Kitchen.

As some may have seen, there's been an increased number of encampment sweeps in our community. These sweeps only cause fear, uncertainty, and instability. As they happen, people lose essential items and have to constantly rebuild. Show up for your unhoused neighbors, whether that be providing a meal, supplies, cash, or just a chat.

As always, thanks to everyone who makes our Sunday kitchens possible.

We need your help! Toiletries are a huge need at Street Kitchen, and we try to have as many as we can every week for people to take. Personal hygiene is a basic necessity that everyone deserves access to. Let's help make that access possible!

Urban Abbey has agreed to help us collect items, so you can bring toiletries there or come join us at Street Kitchen and drop them off directly.
