Want to be part of someone's fresh start? It's simpler than you'd guess. 🀝

Generation Diamond runs on people who show up. Volunteers who sort clothing, help make sandwiches, or sit beside someone working through a job application.

This year alone, we've served more than 1,000 of our neighbors. That happens because the community keeps showing up.

As summer gets going, a few things go a long way:

🧴 Travel size hygiene products

πŸ‘• Summer and interview clothing

⏰ A couple of weekday hours

If you have time, goods, or just a big circle to tell about us, you're exactly who we're looking for.

A second chance is only as strong as the job that holds it up. πŸ› οΈ
Once a participant has food, shelter, and the basics in place, we shift our focus to what comes next. Steady work.

That looks like resume building, help with job applications, online job search guidance, and direct connections to staffing agencies and employers right here in Omaha.

The point is independence. We want every person we serve to reach a place where they no longer need us. πŸ’Ž

That is how a second chance becomes a lasting one.

Reentry does not begin the day someone walks out of prison. It begins the moment they decide to build something different. πŸ”‘

Every year, thousands of Nebraskans are released from incarceration. Most of them want the same things we all want. A steady job. A safe place to live. A chance to be more than their past.

That is the work we do at Generation Diamond.
We help with the practical pieces. State IDs, birth certificates, clothing for interviews, transportation, and connections to employers in our community.

Reentry takes time. It takes our whole community. And it works. πŸ’Ž

For many of the people we serve, tattoos on the face, neck, or hands are reminders of incarceration, trafficking, or a past they are working to leave behind.

We run the only free/low-cost laser tattoo removal program in Nebraska. The goal is simple. Help people remove the visible barriers that stand between them and a new life.

In return, participants give back to our community through service hours. πŸ™Œ

This is one of the most direct ways we help someone step into their next chapter.

On Thursday May 14th, we gathered with our community, partners, colleagues and friends to mark 10 years of Generation Diamond. πŸ’Ž

We were honored to welcome Omaha Mayor John Ewing Jr. and First Lady Dr. Viv Ewing, who joined our Founder Blanca MejΓa and Executive Director Marina Rosado for the evening.

Since 2016, we've worked alongside neighbors rebuilding their lives after incarceration, housing loss, trafficking, and crisis. Ten years of meals served, documents replaced, jobs found, and tattoos removed.

None of it happens without the people who carry this work with us. To everyone who came out on Thursday, sent a message, or has shown up for this mission over the past decade, thank you. πŸ™

We're proud of what we've built here, and grateful for the work still ahead.

Everyone deserves a chance. Not a lecture. Not a list of hoops. A real chance.

That belief is what shapes everything we do. It's why we meet people where they are, not where someone thinks they should be. It's why we focus on the practical stuff that actually moves a life forward.

A fresh start isn't a feeling. It's the ground finally feeling solid under your feet. πŸ™Œ

Today, Generation Diamond marks ten years of service to the Omaha community. πŸ’Ž

What began in 2016 as a response to a clear gap in our city has grown into a comprehensive program serving adults at some of the most critical turning points in their lives.

Over the past decade, our work has expanded to include reintegration support, identity renewal through Nebraska's only free laser tattoo removal program, and skill development designed to move people toward lasting independence.

None of this happens without our partners, our donors, our volunteers, and the community that has believed in this mission from day one.

To every person who has contributed to this work, thank you. The next ten years start now. ✨

Last week, our Case Manager Abigail Zuniga spent the evening at the Community Resource Fair, hosted by OPPD and M.U.D.

She connected with neighbors, shared information about our services, and reminded everyone of something simple but powerful: no one in our community has to navigate hard times alone.

A huge thank you to OPPD and M.U.D. for creating spaces where local organizations and residents can come together. πŸ™Œ

Whether you or someone you love needs help with food, hygiene, vital documents, or a fresh start through our tattoo removal program, our doors are open at 4825 S 25th Street.

We believe everyone deserves a chance. ✨
