Generation Diamond is sharing a Diamond Achievement this week. πŸ’Ž

One of the people in our program earned his commercial driver's license permit. That's a medical exam and weeks of studying, on top of everything else he's putting back together right now.

A commercial license is one of the few credentials someone can earn in a matter of months that leads straight to work paying a real wage.

When he wrote to tell us, he said he hopes to give back one day so the next person in line gets the same help he did. πŸš›

Generation Diamond is grateful to mark another year as an OD2A partner with the Douglas County Health Department. 🀝

OD2A stands for Overdose Data to Action, a CDC funded program the Health Department runs here in Douglas County. Our part of it is essential and practical. We keep the materials on hand and put them in front of participants who need them.

A team from the CDC also visited us recently and spent time with our staff. They left us with a better sense of what services are out there and how to connect people to them.

Overdose prevention takes a lot of organizations pulling in the same direction, and we're glad to be one of them.

Thank you to the Douglas County Health Department and to the CDC for the partnership. πŸ’Ž

Generation Diamond relies on community support to sustain our programs. πŸ’Ž

What allows us to serve the number of participants we do is the ongoing contribution of people across Omaha who give financially, volunteer their time, or donate materials our participants need.

There is a place here for anyone who wants to be involved. If you are interested in supporting this work, we would welcome the conversation.

Our office is open Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at 4829 S. 25th Street, Suite 100.

We are grateful to the individuals and organizations who continue to stand behind our participants. πŸ™

Generation Diamond sent a participant home this week with a backpack of supplies and clothing. He gave us permission to share the photo. πŸ’Ž

Reentry brings a stack of small logistical problems that add up fast. Clean clothes and basic supplies are the kind of thing most people replace without thinking about it. For someone starting over, they're harder to come by.

Donations from the community are what make this possible. Much of what goes into these bags comes from people right here in Omaha who decided to give.

We're grateful to all of you. πŸ™

Generation Diamond is asking the community for help with a specific need this week.

Our participants need adult T-shirts. πŸ‘•

Men's and women's sizes, gently used and clean, in whatever sizes you have on hand. A clean shirt goes further than people expect. It's often what someone wears to a job interview, or to a first shift at a new job.

Shirts can be dropped off at our office at 4829 S. 25th Street, Suite 100, Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. πŸ“

Thank you to everyone in Omaha who keeps showing up for this work. πŸ™

Generation Diamond has never done this work alone, and we've never wanted to. 🀝

Most of what happens here depends on somebody in Omaha deciding to help. That might be an employer who reads an application all the way to the bottom, or a landlord who returns a call, or one person passing our name along to somebody who needs it.

We're a small operation. What makes the difference is how many people in this city are willing to be useful when it counts.
If you want in, send us a message here and we'll tell you what's actually needed.

And to everybody already doing this alongside us, thank you. πŸ’Ž

Generation Diamond serves a wider group of people than most folks expect. πŸ’Ž

Adults coming home from prison are a large part of who walks through our door. So are people who have lost their housing, survivors of trafficking and domestic violence, and anyone whose life came apart quickly and without much warning.

What brought somebody here matters less to us than what they need now. Thanks for standing with this work. 🀍

Generation Diamond has added free sleep therapy and meditation to our weekly programming on Thursdays at 10:30am.

The sessions are led by Thanh Le. Mats are provided.

Partnerships like this one extend what we're able to offer, and we're grateful for it.

Generation Diamond exists so that a person's record isn't the last word on what they can become. πŸ’Ž

We serve adults across the Omaha metro who are rebuilding after incarceration or crisis. Our work includes employment and DMV application support, free laser tattoo removal, and the practical groundwork that stability requires.

Ten years in, our position hasn't changed. Everyone deserves a chance, and then another.

Thank you to the partners, donors, and volunteers who make this possible.

Generation Diamond starts everyone the same way, with a conversation. 🀝

When somebody walks in, they sit down with a case manager. That conversation is for figuring out what they need and what's actually standing in the way, which is different for every person who comes through.

From there it splits. Some people can't do anything until an ID gets replaced. Others are ready for a resume and an introduction to an employer, and that's where our career support specialists pick it up.

We're at 4829 S. 25th Street, Suite 100, open Monday through Thursday.
Thanks for pointing people toward us. πŸ’Ž
