Hello, everybody! I'm Shelby, and this is Posterity Blooms.

We are a brand spankin' new florist in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area. Our shtick is that we use only native plants from my native garden--and those plants are arranged & delivered in repurposed ceramics/glass/anything that will hold water. Soon, we'll have a website up to make the order process smoother.

In the meantime, everything is extremely loosey goosey.

The most typical price point for an arrangement plus delivery is $20-$35. Please reach out to me via messenger here or at [email protected] with any inquiries.

We are at the Florence Mill Farmers' Market every Sunday from 10-3, and you better be, too! I mean, I guess you don't have to stay the whole time. I guess.

We have some exciting news coming up for September 16 in the early afternoon, so mark your calendars for a great event. Eeeeek!

So excited to be of service to this beautiful area and its excellent humans, pollinators, and wildlife.

"Under appropriate conditions, 30-40% of the carbon fixed in green leaves can be transferred to soil and rapidly humified, resulting in rates of soil carbon sequestration in the order of 5-20 tonnes of CO2 per hectare per year.

In some instances, high soil carbon sequestration rates have been recorded where there were virtually no ‘biomass inputs’, suggesting that the liquid carbon pathway was the primary mechanism for soil building.

Every 27 tonnes of carbon sequestered biologically in soil represents 100 tonnes of carbon dioxide removed from the atmosphere. As a bonus, it also enables more reliable and profitable production of nutritious food.

Currently, most agricultural land is a net carbon source. That is, the soil is losing more carbon than it is sequestering. A biology-friendly approach to crop production - and carefully planned grazing of pastures and rangeland - would enable agricultural land to become a net carbon sink (that is, soil sequestering more carbon than it was losing).

If all farmland was a net sink rather than a net source for CO2, atmospheric CO2 levels would fall at the same time as farm productivity and watershed function improved. This would solve the vast majority of our food production, environmental and human health ‘problems’."

What's the best way to restore compacted soil? Cover crops. We learn by imitating Mother Nature. Lesson 1: Mother Nature doesn't till.

The Porch Pantry is For All 🤲

Take what you can + leave what you don't. The porch pantry is open to the community, and we are so delighted it is being used! This also means some supplies are dwindling, and we would LOVE some more donations, especially for winter clothing such as hats, gloves, socks, coats. 🧥

Food items are another big need for our pantry, especially food that won't freeze in this BITTER cold (e.g. macaroni, ramen, packaged dry snacks, etc.). Brrr 🥶

The pantry is located at our main education center 4002 Seward Street. Donations may be dropped off on the front or back porch. Please reach out to Laura ([email protected]) with any questions, and many thanks for your kindness and generosity.

You can also support City Sprouts by donating here: https://omahasprouts.kindful.com/?campaign=1164851
