So begins the end of our little non-profit. Today a portion of our remaining funds went to two deserving organizations. To Table Grace Cafe and Together's food pantry. One more group helping single moms get back to work will receive the funds in a few days.
The good work continues through others. As I ease away from my work and the public eye, I have faith there are many continuing the fight to help the less fortunate in our community.

To all who have supported It’s All About Employment over the past three years, I want to extend my deepest gratitude for believing in our mission.

While we have achieved meaningful results and gathered strong data demonstrating our impact, we are unable to continue due to a lack of sustainable funding. Despite our progress, we were not able to secure the necessary support from grantmakers, foundations, and other funders. Without one very special benefactor, we would not have been able to make the difference we did in the lives of those we served.

I do not want this message to sound like disappointment, because we truly did good work. Together, we helped individuals transition back into the workforce and stay on the path to independence. That is something we can all take pride in.

Omaha has so many wonderful resources, and the work of helping people live their best lives will continue. In the coming weeks, we will share a statement about how the remaining funds will be directed to benefit the community.

As for me, I will continue to be active in the community, supporting individuals who receive SSI/SSDI through the Ticket to Work program. I remain available to partner with agencies and organizations to share information and collaborate on this important work.

Once again, thank you for your belief, your encouragement, and your support.

Today. Make an impact on one person

A new week unfolds, prompting us to reflect on our journey thus far. I recalled our humble beginnings, which were rooted in noble and modest ambitions. I saw vast potential for growth, with the possibility of positively impacting not only those in our immediate sphere but also generations to come. Nevertheless, maintaining this mindset poses challenges, as it's easy to lose sight of our core mission. Misunderstandings arise when others fail to grasp our objectives, and we may even experience self-doubt. Yet, we continue onward, embracing flexibility and making adjustments as needed to explore alternative strategies. Although this may lead to occasional setbacks, requiring us to reassess and restart, our focus remains fixed on the present, propelling us forward. The effectiveness of pivoting varies, yielding success at times but not always.

I shared the origins of It's All About Employment with my board, underscoring the three core principles that drove our initiative. Our first concept was a citywide career and resource fair, featuring multiple locations and transportation services. The second concept involved developing a workforce training program for individuals with disabilities, focusing on the hospitality sector. Finally, we aimed to support those reentering the workforce after completing a recovery program, as this transition often presents significant challenges. As we enter our fourth year of operations, we have encountered numerous obstacles, but our dedication to serving the underserved remains unwavering. Stay tuned for stories about our history and objectives.

Tomorrow, The Brunch Box will host a FROYO fundraiser to support our non-profit organization. From 4pm onwards, a percentage of froyo and food sales will be contributed to our organization. Head downtown to indulge in a refreshing FROYO!

Today we facilitated a transformative resource fair for the neighbors of the St Vincent DePaul at their Holy Family Community Center, and it was truly a blessing. During setup, we encountered a young man visiting for the college world series, and his willingness to serve was a powerful reminder of the impact one person can have. He had time to spare before the LSU game commenced, so he arrived at the church to see if he could volunteer for anything, demonstrating remarkable compassion and empathy. He had observed the people waiting in line and wanted to help, embodying the true spirit of kindness and generosity. I remain deeply grateful to God for putting him in my path, and his selflessness continues to inspire me.

IAAE is not doing a large fundraiser this year. As we strive to make small impacts every day, we will do small events throughout the year. We will continue on our mission to help those transitioning out of homelessness to navigate the journey of employment.
If you want to really help us make a difference, set up a fundraiser at your business or reach out to those you know. Restaurants, etc.
Someone suggested i should do something on TikTok, but Noone wants to see that.

Today I followed up with Jose. We were to meet this morning as we had made flyers for his lawn mowing. He was a little late as he had been mowing. He says his already getting work and just got an apartment complex. Hmmm

Today we empowered Jose to start his own lawn care business. Here he is. We will also print him some flyers to get him going.
