Each day, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul prepares and provides over 200 sack lunches to the homeless and others living in low-income "senior" living apartments. Right now, though, we're running extremely low on two items needed for these lunches: "Salties" (like potato chips, pretzels or similar items) and "Sweeties" (like cookies, granola bars, etc). We are nearly out of both, as donations of these items have recently dried up, for whatever reason. So, if you (or a group you're affiliated with) are able, we would be VERY grateful if you would consider donating salties or sweeties to use in these lunches. Any amount would help!

Donations can be made between from 9 - 11 am, Mondays-Fridays to the west end of our Holy Family Center, 1715 Izard Street. Just ring the doorbell of our YELLOW door (pictured) and ask for Jeff! Thank you, in advance, for helping the Society feed our neighbors in need!

Today, we have some unfortunate news to share. Our thrift store on 21st and Leavenworth - one of our most popular stores - was vandalized just last week.

It appears that a disgruntled previous customer threw a rock at one of our windows, breaking the glass. The damage is so significant that the whole window will have to be replaced - meaning nearly $9,000 in repairs.

This is why we are asking for YOUR support to help one of our most cherished thrift stores get through these difficult times. Please consider donating through our online donation form here: https://conta.cc/3aA6XDT

🤡 Today we were blessed to have some of the Omaha Wild Clown Dum come down and volunteer for our Sack Lunch program! 🤡 🥪

This generous posse offered their time and cheer as part of International Clown Week. All five volunteers, Tumbleweed, Sparkles, Giggles, Basil, and Ima Clown were wonderful helpers with truly infectious smiles, bringing joy to our staff, volunteers, and neighbors.

🚨 Cereal Needed at our Pantry! 🚨

The SSVP pantry is CRITICALLY low on cereal! In fact, our shelves could be out of cereal by the end of this week. Cereal is one of the most popular foods we provide for our neighbors, and many rely on it to feed their children in the morning. We have been able to scrape by for the last few weeks but now we really need your help.

Please consider giving a donation of cereal to our pantry on 21st and Leavenworth. Donations will be accepted Monday-Thursday 9AM - 1PM. We thank you for your generosity!

This institution is an equal opportunity provider.

Today was truly special as we were blessed to have the amazing students from St. Patrick's in Elkhorn volunteer with us! 😇 They were eager to help with anything they could, doing everything from prepping sack lunches 🥪 to picking up trash and helping in the garden 🌷.

We cannot express enough how grateful we are for our incredible community. Their willingness to volunteer and support our outreach efforts means the world to us and our less fortunate neighbors. 🤗

Today, we had the pleasure of hosting Maria and Tati from Cricket in our gardens! With the help of the Affordable Connectivity Program, they were able to provide free phones and data plans to our homeless neighbors, like Angela. This means our neighbors can now have access to vital information and resources, as well as the opportunity to stay connected with loved ones. ❤️

Overall, Maria and Tati helped over a dozen of our neighbors get access to the internet, and they will be by again next Friday to help even more of our neighbors! We are blessed to have so many generous people and organizations in our community. 😇

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Omaha is grateful to the .Omaha volunteers who are helping out in our Westwood Plaza thrift store this afternoon, as well as for the terrific service that 8th graders from provided at our district office this morning (pictured). From preparing and handing out sack lunches and clothing to our homeless neighbors, to sorting & matching sock donations, these mission-driven St. Pat’s youngsters made a real and meaningful difference here at SSVP Omaha!

's kicked off today – the first of four days celebrating National Volunteer Week and the vital role that volunteers play in non-profit services. SSVP Omaha hosted more than a dozen students from here at our District Office. Many hands made light work, as the students helped with our sack lunch and clothing distribution ministries, as well as assisted in readying our community garden for planting. A BIG THANK YOU goes out to these wonderful students for their hard work and commitment to serving the underserved of our Omaha community!
