Access Period presented our five millionth period product to CIRA Center for Immigrant and Refugee Advancement’s Sophia Ibrahimi at the On Brand Conference. When we started in 2022, we weren't sure if people would cringe if "period" was in our name, let alone support our cause so fully, but the response has traveled farther and faster than we ever imagined.

Those five million products add up to over 1 million worry-free days for people who menstruate. Days spent living, learning, and working like everyone else.

We chose to mark this milestone by honoring CIRA, one of our earliest partners. CIRA serves immigrant and refugee communities across our region, where many people don't feel safe speaking up about needing period products. Their work helps people build the lives they came to this country to find, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to work alongside them and all of our partners who work every day to ensure that life is accessible for the people they serve.

Thank you to Raj Lulla for sharing his keynote stage with us for this milestone, and for expertly weaving together all the people, stories, and moments that came to create Access Period: our team, donors, volunteers, board members, partners, and most of all, the people who trust us with something as personal as their period. We will never know the real ripple effect of one million days when people could fully participate in life, but we will keep working and celebrating until access is universal.

Yesterday we shared a piece from The Reader about our partnership with the Douglas County Health Department to stock their free Health Resource Vending Machines. Today, a volunteer group from Children's Nebraska came to The Pad to pack the boxes that are distributed through the vending machines.

Every vending box is packed by volunteers, just like all of our kits. We are grateful Children’s Nebraska spent their time on it!

Mikala Harden from The Reader visited us at The Pad last week and we got to talk about making period supplies and other necessities more accessible in Omaha. Her piece features the Douglas County Health Department's Health Resource Vending Machines, one of the most innovative ways basic needs products are being made available for anyone who needs them. Free period products, pregnancy tests, Naloxone, and more are available 24/7 outside in locations chosen based on community needs data. We are proud to partner with DCHD, and grateful for coverage that shows what it looks like when organizations work together!

Healthcare means addressing all barriers to wellbeing. Methodist Health System and the Methodist Hospital Foundation understand this and are providing free period products to patients and visitors who need them. We are proud to partner with organizations that recognize period products as necessities. Thank you, Methodist!

Access to basic hygiene products matters.

Methodist is expanding access to free menstrual products across our facilities to help address period poverty in our community. These products are available for immediate, on-site needs so patients and visitors can feel supported during their time with us.
