Freedomtainment Omaha Freedomtainment, is a 501c3 from North Omaha, Nebraska. Its vision is to share its rich heritage, support community & create a place of destination.

Its mission is to Educate, Empower and Entertain the Omaha, Nebraska community about North Omaha culture. Freedomtainment does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations. ❤️ Thank You, BPOA & Union Pacific ❤️🚲

Freedomtainment would like to recognize and thank the Black Police Officers Association (BPOA) and Pacific for their incredible commitment to the youth of Omaha.

For the past six years, these two organizations have partnered with the Omaha Freedom Festival to sponsor our annual Bicycle & Helmet Giveaway during the daytime activities. Because of their generosity, more than 240 bicycles and helmets have been given to children throughout North Omaha and Douglas County.

A bicycle may seem like a simple gift, but for many children it represents freedom, exercise, confidence, and memories that last a lifetime. Seeing the smiles on the faces of the kids who receive these bikes each year is one of the highlights of our festival.

We are grateful for organizations that continue to invest in our community and provide opportunities for young people to thrive.

On behalf of Freedomtainment, the Omaha Freedom Festival, and the families who have benefited from this program, thank you BPOA and Union Pacific for six years of support and for helping make a difference in the lives of our youth.

As I reflect on this year's Omaha Freedom Festival, my heart is full.

People saw the stages, the artists, the fireworks, and the thousands of people who came together to celebrate. What they didn't see were the months of planning, fundraising, meetings, phone calls, and sacrifices made by a small group of people who simply believe our community deserves something special.

This year, Freedomtainment Omaha produced three major events in one day. The largest was the evening concert at Gene Leahy Mall featuring Keri Hilson, Lyfe Jennings, and Nivea, with well over 10,000 people coming together for a free community celebration.

But the real stars of this festival are the people who work behind the scenes.

I want to thank Michelle Jones (MJ), Virgil Haskin and his family, Shannon Jackson, Mrs. Pamela Alston, Karen Davis, Shelby Pickens, Jamie Robinson, Junior Mitchell, Davida Anderson, Destin Anderson, Telind Anderson, Keonna Jones, Brianna Jones, and my brother from another mother, Tim Anderson.

These are the people who show up year after year because they care. They care about North Omaha. They care about families. They care about making sure our community has a free annual celebration where everyone feels welcome, regardless of their income or circumstances.

For six years, this event has been built on love, sacrifice, and service. No one gets rich doing this work. We do it because we believe our community deserves moments of joy, unity, culture, and pride.

To every volunteer, sponsor, partner, vendor, board member, and supporter—thank you. The Omaha Freedom Festival belongs to all of us.

As I reflect on this year's Omaha Freedom Festival, my heart is full.

People saw the stages, the artists, the fireworks, and the thousands of people who came together to celebrate. This Juneteenth reminded me why we do the Omaha Freedom Festival.

Out of everything we accomplished this weekend, the Negro League Storytelling Series impacted me the most. Listening to Bob Kendrick , Coach Wilbert Ellis, Ralph Garr, Eric Ewing, and Brenda Council wasn't just hearing baseball stories—it was hearing the story of struggle, perseverance, and hope.

These legends lived through a time when African Americans were not allowed the same opportunities as others. They played the game they loved while facing discrimination, segregation, and barriers that most of us can only imagine. Yet they never gave up. They kept playing, kept believing, and kept opening doors for those who would come after them.

What touched me most was hearing how baseball changed lives. It gave young Black boys from poor communities a chance to dream bigger, create opportunities for their families, and change the course of their future. The message was simple: get educated, work hard, and when you make it through the door, hold it open for someone else.

That's what Juneteenth means to me. Remembering the sacrifices, honoring the pioneers, and making sure the next generation has even greater opportunities than we did.

This Juneteenth reminded me why we do the Omaha Freedom Festivall.
